About The Role

The Veeva PLM (Product Lifecycle Management) team is seeking a highly skilled Principal DevOps Engineer to lead the design, development, and implementation of our next-generation infrastructure on Amazon Web Services (AWS). In this strategic role, you will be responsible for spearheading the migration of our platform to AWS, creating a scalable, reliable, and secure environment from the ground up. You will have complete ownership of tooling, automation, and the CI/CD pipeline, working in a dynamic, startup-like setting that values innovation and agility. The ideal candidate is a hands-on, self-starter who excels at balancing performance, cost-efficiency, and reliability while driving architectural excellence. Your expertise will shape the future of our infrastructure, ensuring high availability, security, and operational excellence. You will collaborate closely with development, QA, and operations teams to implement best practices, improve system observability, and optimize deployment workflows. Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in DevOps roles, with a focus on automation, tooling, and scalable distributed systems
  • Extensive experience designing and implementing deployment architectures within AWS cloud environment
  • Deep understanding of core AWS services such as VPC, EKS, EC2, IAM, S3, and related services
  • Proficiency in containerization and orchestration using Kubernetes and similar technologies
  • Strong expertise in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform and Ansible
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines, particularly using GitLab, Jenkins, or similar tools
  • Solid knowledge of monitoring and observability frameworks including Grafana, Prometheus, and Elasticsearch
  • Ability to script using Bash, Groovy, or other scripting languages
  • Unrestricted right to work in the United States; remote work in PST or MST time zones preferred

  • Lead the architectural vision for scalable, reliable, and secure cloud infrastructure on AWS
  • Implement and manage Infrastructure as Code (IaC) strategies using tools like Terraform and Ansible
  • Design, develop, and optimize end-to-end CI/CD pipelines to streamline development, testing, and deployment processes
  • Drive DevOps best practices across teams, promoting automation, efficiency, and operational excellence
  • Ensure platform reliability by focusing on durability, availability, performance, and correctness
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to recommend and implement architectural enhancements and security policies
  • Monitor system health, troubleshoot issues, and optimize infrastructure performance using observability tools
  • Stay current with emerging cloud technologies and DevOps methodologies to continually improve infrastructure practices
  • Document infrastructure architecture, procedures, and best practices for ongoing team reference and compliance
