About The Role

We are seeking a highly experienced Principal Backend Software Engineer to join our dynamic engineering team. In this fully remote role, you will be instrumental in developing and delivering innovative backend solutions that enhance the productivity and efficiency of our engineering teams. Your expertise will help unblock technical challenges, shape architectural standards, and drive large-scale projects from conception to deployment. This position offers a unique opportunity to influence the technical direction of our platform, mentor junior engineers, and collaborate across teams to create scalable, reliable, and high-performance software solutions. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of software architecture, cloud technologies, and modern development practices, with a passion for building tools that empower developers and improve overall developer experience.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of extensive experience in software or technology leadership roles, with full responsibility across the software development lifecycle.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field; advanced degrees are a plus.
• Proficiency in one or more prominent programming languages such as Java, Python, Kotlin, Go, or Scala.
• Hands-on experience with SaaS, PaaS, and IaaS platforms, including public cloud services like AWS, GCP, or Azure.
• Strong ability to evaluate trade-offs between correctness, robustness, performance, and resource utilization.
• Experience mentoring engineering teams and influencing decision-making processes.
• Ability to make customer-centric technical decisions that balance technical excellence with user impact.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the capacity to handle complex architectural challenges.

Responsibilities

• Regularly identify and resolve obstacles encountered during the software development process, from technical design to deployment.
• Design and implement solutions that are utilized by multiple teams and products, including planning and executing large-scale projects.
• Address complex architecture challenges, ensuring adherence to architectural standards and best practices on new initiatives.
• Lead code reviews, contribute to comprehensive documentation, and resolve high-risk bugs with precision and accountability.
• Establish and promote standards for meaningful code reviews, fostering collaboration and quality across engineering teams.
• Share expertise by transferring knowledge of your primary programming language and other technical skills to team members.
• Mentor junior engineers, supporting their growth and development within the organization.
