About The Role
We are hiring a Senior Backend Developer (PHP / Laravel) to join a remote-first engineering team based in Egypt. You will own backend services, design robust APIs, optimise data models, and help shape engineering practices to deliver scalable, secure, and maintainable systems.
Role & Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain scalable backend services and RESTful APIs using PHP and Laravel.
- Translate product requirements into reliable data models, queries, and service interfaces with a focus on performance and security.
- Implement automated tests and CI/CD pipelines; ensure high code quality through code reviews and TDD practices.
- Containerise applications and manage runtime environments using Docker; collaborate on deployment and observability strategies.
- Resolve production incidents, perform root-cause analysis, and implement preventive measures to improve service reliability.
- Mentor junior engineers, contribute to engineering standards, and drive improvements in architecture and developer experience.
