Job Description

Computer Vision Engineer – Autonomous Drone Systems (m/w/d)

€80,000–€100,000 | Hybrid (min. 3 days onsite) | Relocation €2.5k + Visa Support

We’re looking for a Computer Vision Engineer to join a fast-growing deep-tech company developing breakthrough airborne defence technologies. Our work sits at the crossroads of aerospace, AI, robotics, and national security, and we’re building systems designed to counter rapidly evolving drone threats.

If you want to contribute to technology that has real-world impact — not theoretical research — this is the place.

About the Mission

The use of drones in modern conflict has transformed the battlefield, and existing defence tools are no longer enough. Our team is developing advanced aerial capabilities that combine cutting-edge AI, real-time perception, and rugged aerospace engineering.

To support this mission, we’re expanding our Computer Vision team and hiring an engineer who can take ownership of high-impact perception systems.

What You’ll Be Working On

In this role, you will help build the visual intelligence that powers our airborne platforms. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Designing perception algorithms for object detection, tracking, collision avoidance, and situational awareness
  • Processing radar data and building visualisation tools used directly by frontline operators
  • Integrating CV + ML pipelines into operational drone hardware
  • Developing training, validation, and evaluation pipelines for deployed systems
  • Working closely with ML, software, and hardware engineering teams
  • Contributing to sensitive, NDA-protected aerospace/defence projects in direct alignment with leadership

Your Contribution Will Include

  • Building high-performance algorithms for real-time aerial perception
  • Refining and optimising object detection and tracking models
  • Developing radar-to-vision fusion concepts and 3D perception components
  • Architecting robust data workflows for continuous model improvement
  • Collaborating with hardware engineers to bring CV models into deployed environments
  • Participating in design reviews, code reviews, and cross-functional system planning
  • Delivering solutions that meet aerospace-grade reliability requirements

You'll have significant ownership — the more you bring, the more responsibility you’ll take on.

Skills & Experience You’ll Need

Essential

  • 4–5+ years of professional Computer Vision experience
  • Strong Python and C++ skills
  • Expertise in object detection (primary requirement)
  • Solid grounding in object tracking, OpenCV, and classical CV methods
  • Experience working with radar, LiDAR, or similar sensor data
  • Understanding of embedded systems, drones, robotics, or hardware integration
  • Background in aerospace, defence, or a similarly high-stakes environment (not automotive)
  • Excellent technical communication skills
  • Professional-level English

Bonus Points

  • Experience in drones, robotics, defence tech, or autonomous systems
  • Familiarity with sensor fusion frameworks or Kalman filtering
  • Contributions to production-grade ML/CV deployments
