Job Description
Data Automation Engineer
Our client, is a multinational manufacturer. As a Data Automation Specialist, you would work closely with the Digital Transformation deployment teams to demonstrate the value of Digital Transformation (DX) technologies and methodologies when deployed to full-scale production sites, as well as setup the global governance for accelerating the development of use-cases across the group. This role is based in Seoul, South Korea.
Responsibilities:
- Providing strong assistance and guidance to DX deployment teams as they connect equipment in factories for the purpose of implementing specific use-cases (DX Apps)
- Design, own and enforce the set of methodologies to allow for rapid connection of entire factories’ equipment to the integrated middleware (especially IIoT Platform)
- Define OT Automation standards and best practises for data connectivity from ISA95 L2 to L3 using IIoT methodologies
- Setup and continuously improve tools and methodologies for ensuring rapid connectivity of relevant factory equipment, considering technical, commercial and strategic partnership lenses. Includes but is not limited to:
- - Appropriate interfaces connecting PLCs to industrial edges or IIoT Platform pipelines.
- - Approaches for efficient usage of soft/virtual-PLCs especially in the context of legacy factories.
- - Standardisation of communication interfaces and protocols for equipment, systems and server requirements.
- - Standardisation of data ingestion systems (as needed) to ensure seamless availability of the data into our integrated middleware (IIOT platform).
- Standardisation of overall “connectivity recipe” to ensure fast ramp-up in legacy as well as new factories, based on the above standards, as well as lessons of the technical support provided to existing DX deployment efforts.
- Strongly collaborate with the Development centres and outside stakeholders to identify relevant trends in the field of industrial connectivity (e.g. SiOME model, TSN, AI-based tagging, etc) and derive the set of technologies and standards which will need to be embedded in the group’s progression towards full Automation and an Autonomous factory
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Industrial Engineering, or a related field
- 8-10 years’ experience (after completion of education) in industrial OT/IT ingestion/automation software developments or deployment using Kepware, Cybus, HiveMQ, Litmus, Softing AG, Ignition, UNS, Sightmachine, AVEVA, Siemens, Rockwell, Beckhoff or other relevant aspects of industrial connectivity
- Experience with PLC/SCADA and proficiency in standard communication protocols (EtherNET IP, Profinet, EtherCAT, Modbus, Profibus) and other network protocols such as OPC-UA/TCP/UDP)
- Experience with leading Manufacturing IIoT Platforms, such as PTC Thingworx, Siemens Industrial Edge and Mendix, Rockwell FT Optix and Schneider Ecostruxure
- You will have outstanding communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to drive change through persuasion and thought leadership is critical for this role
- Fluent English is a must
- Korean language skills is a strong advantage
- Willingness to be based in Korea is a must
