What You Will Do

Discover a world of opportunity in the Talent Acquisition Center of Excellence (COE) at Los Alamos National Laboratory! We have exciting opportunities for outstanding entry-level and mid-level HR professionals like you. As a Talent Acquisition Specialist 1, you will be a key member of the team that enables the Laboratory to accomplish its mission by providing strategic guidance and high-level support to management on all talent acquisition-related activities, including screening, selection, and hiring processes. The selected candidate will advise stakeholders on HR policies and procedures, complete a wide array of hiring actions, and provide support on common and moderately complex hiring issues.

What You Need

Minimum Job Requirements:

HR Business Acumen: Basic working knowledge of HR theories, principles, and understanding of HR as an interrelated system of functional operations. Demonstrated experience advising stakeholders on hiring policies and procedures; assisting with job advertisement development and better practices; screening and ranking candidates; developing and reviewing hiring packages for accuracy; assisting with start salary determinations; and dealing with a variety of related customer service issues.

Relationship Management: Demonstrated ability to thoughtfully and proactively work with customers to understand their needs, resolve issues, and apply policy and procedure to successfully achieve business goals. Ability to interact with candidates, hiring officials, and recruiters with a professional demeanor and focus on customer service, all while driving toward deadlines in a goal-oriented setting.

Technical Expertise: Demonstrated experience recruiting and/or managing hiring requisitions through HR systems and databased (i.e., Oracle, SAP, etc.) to accurately input information and retrieve, organize, and report HR data and metrics.

Planning and Prioritization: Demonstrated ability to manage a high volume of assignments, adapt quickly to shifting priorities, meet strict deadlines, and multi-task in a detail-oriented and fast-paced environment.

Ethical Practice: Direct experience maintaining confidentiality and protecting Personally Identifiable Information (PII) in daily operations.

Education/Experience: Bachelor's degree in business or other area related to HR and a minimum of 2 years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Professional certification (PHR, SPHR) is highly desired, but not required
  • Knowledge of LANL organizational structure, mission, and goals

Work Environment:

Work Location: The work location for this position is telework and is located in . Telework is defined as working from offsite but within 2 hours ground commute of this location. Reporting onsite may be periodically necessary. All work locations are at the discretion of management and can change at any time with appropriate notice.

Position commitment: Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. If an employee has not served the time required, they may only apply for Laboratory jobs with the documented approval of their Division Leader. The position commitment for this position is 1 year.

Additional Details

Directive 206.2: Employment with Triad requires a favorable decision by NNSA indicating employee is suitable under NNSA Supplemental Directive 206.2. No Clearance: Position does not require a security clearance. Selected candidates will be subject to drug testing and other pre-employment background checks.

New-Employment Drug Test: The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing. Although New Mexico and other states have legalized the use of marijuana, use and possession of marijuana remain illegal under federal law. A positive drug test for marijuana will result in termination of employment, even if the use was pre-offer.

Regular position: Term status Laboratory employees applying for regular-status positions are converted to regular status.

Internal Applicants: Regular appointment employees who have served the required period of continuous service in their current position are eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory.
