About The Role
The Senior Data Analyst at Tufts University plays a critical role in managing and executing complex data analytics projects that support strategic decision-making across the institution. This fully remote position involves working closely with diverse stakeholders, including senior university leadership, to understand their data needs and translate them into actionable insights through advanced dashboards and visualizations. The analyst will leverage their expertise in business intelligence tools such as Tableau or Power BI, along with SQL and relational databases, to develop professional, user-friendly dashboards that enhance data-driven strategies. The role requires a proactive approach to data management, adherence to best practices, and effective communication skills to bridge the gap between technical teams and non-technical stakeholders. The Senior Data Analyst will also contribute to ongoing initiatives related to data governance, quality standards, and metadata management, ensuring the integrity and security of university data assets.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Data Analytics, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of 6 years of experience creating dashboards and data visualizations in platforms such as Tableau or Power BI.
- Proficiency in SQL for data preparation and querying.
- Experience working with relational databases and data management best practices.
- Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills, with the ability to work independently with senior managers.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate complex technical information to non-technical audiences.
- Master’s Degree in Data Analytics, Statistics, or related technical fields.
- Extensive experience with Tableau, Power BI, or similar visualization tools.
- Experience with Tableau Server and Denodo Data Virtualization Platform.
- Knowledge of scripting languages such as Python and experience with APIs (REST, GraphQL).
- Understanding of descriptive and inferential statistics.
- Experience working within an academic environment and large-scale Enterprise Data Warehouse systems.
- Familiarity with data governance frameworks, data quality standards, and metadata management.
- Ability to lead data initiatives from conception through delivery.
- Manage and execute complex data analytics projects, including designing, developing, and enhancing dashboards and visualizations.
- Collaborate with stakeholders across departments to gather requirements and translate business needs into technical solutions.
