About The Role
Due to ongoing growth and the rollout of our container-first policy, we are hiring a Senior Kubernetes Platform Engineer to design and implement a self-managed, Kubernetes-based container platform. This is a greenfield opportunity to shape the foundational architecture that will be used enterprise-wide across all of the company business units.
This role is not focused on Kubernetes administration or maintenance. Rather, youll be building and deploying the first version of a standardized, scalable platform to be leveraged by engineering teams throughout the organization. Ideal candidates will come from a software engineering background and have moved into DevOps, platform engineering, or infrastructure roles with hands-on Kubernetes experience.
What Youll Do
- Lead the design and implementation of a self-managed Kubernetes container platform on internal infrastructure (not cloud-based).
- Build platform components for orchestration, networking, observability, storage, and security.
- Define and create templated Kubernetes solutions that can be rolled out across business units.
- Write automation scripts and tools from scratch (Python preferred; Go, Bash also accepted).
- Partner with engineering and architecture teams to tailor solutions for enterprise scalability.
- Collaborate closely across departments to gather requirements and deliver platform capabilities as a service.
- Stay up to date with emerging container technologies and advocate for best practices.
- Contribute to internal documentation and guide other engineering teams through adoption.
Required Qualifications:
- 3+ years of experience in software development, DevOps, or platform engineering roles
- 2+ years of hands-on Kubernetes design, build, and deployment in a production environment
- Strong scripting and automation skillsmust be able to write scripts from scratch
- Experience with internal infrastructure (bare metal or data center Kubernetes)
- Proficient in Python, Go, Bash, or similar languages
- Strong understanding of Kubernetes internals: networking, service mesh, RBAC, persistent storage, etc.
- Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform or Ansible
- Solid problem-solving skills, and ability to work autonomously
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for cross-functional collaboration
- Experience with OpenShift, Tanzu, or similar Kubernetes distributions
- Familiarity with container technologies like Docker or Podman
- Exposure to monitoring and logging tools (Prometheus, Grafana, etc.)
- Certifications such as Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA) or equivalent
