Job Description

Seaspan is currently in search of a Global Mobility Specialist with solid experience supporting immigration and global mobility operations. We are looking for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and can provide accurate guidance, case coordination and support a wide range of global mobility activities, including immigration and taxation case management, audits and reporting. This position plays a key role in maintaining compliance across all global mobility activities and supporting the full scope of Global Mobility’s complex operational requirements.

Note: This is a 12-month limited term employment with eligible benefits and 3 weeks’ vacation. This position qualifies for an optional hybrid work schedule after 90 days of onsite work and onboarding. Employee will be subject to the terms of the Flexible Work Policy Agreement.

What You’ll Do

  • Support end-to-end immigration processes, including Temporary Work Permit applications, BC Provincial Nominee Program, work permit extensions, Permanent Residence and multi-pathway immigration planning for employees with complex cases, in partnership with external immigration counsel.
  • Manage Drydock projects and contractors arriving for Seaspan projects requiring immigration.
  • Review exception process and requests for immigration sponsorship, active backlog items and provide guidance to the business.
  • Support taxation related needs for international assignments, contractors, and cross-province/country work arrangements.
  • Maintain accurate case records, trackers and analytics related to immigration, taxation, relocation and compliance activities.
  • Provide input on global mobility programs, templates, SOPs, checklists and support continuous process improvements.
  • Conduct monthly audits and compliance reviews related to mobility and align discrepancies and reconciliation.
  • Respond to internal queries regarding immigration processes, global mobility policies, and relocation entitlements, proactively flagging delays, timelines, risk visibility and resolving issues.
  • Coordinate government interviews, immigration inspections and document preparation for active immigration files.


What You’ll Bring

  • Minimum 4 years of experience in Global Mobility, Immigration or related fields.
  • Strong organizational and case management skills with the ability to work independently and manage high volumes with constantly evolving priorities.
  • Outstanding communication and stakeholder management skills to work effectively with employees, managers, Talent Acquisition, HR Business Partners and external vendors.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to anticipate issues and propose practical solutions.
  • Knowledge of Canadian immigration programs and taxation policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with confidential information and maintain strict attention to detail.
  • Advanced skills with Excel and PowerPoint required.
  • Ability to analyze data and identify compliance risks.
  • Customer service mindset and ability to support employees during high-stress transitions.

The estimated salary for this position is $84,600 - $103,400. In determining final salary, Seaspan considers many factors including the successful Candidate’s skillset and experience as well as position location and internal equity. The final base salary offer will be at the Company’s sole discretion and presented as part of a competitive total compensation package.
