About Tracer

Many scientific teams face two major challenges: the difficulty of debugging complex computational pipelines and the rising cost of running them at scale. Together, these problems slow the pace of research and drive up infrastructure spend, making breakthroughs in areas like drug development harder to achieve.

Tracer is building an observability platform for high-performance computing that helps researchers and engineers both optimize costs and improve reliability, unlocking faster discovery across a market that spans life sciences, engineering, and beyond. Backed by over $3M from top investors and based in London, we’re assembling a founding team to tackle this opportunity. Ready to make an impact?

About The Role

As Tracer’s Head of Content and Community, you’ll be our Editor-in-chief and the primary producer behind Tracer’s media engine. You won’t just manage a calendar; you’ll shape how bioinformaticians see and interact with Tracer, through stories, visuals, and (digital experiences) that scientists engage with and enjoy.

This is a true “0 to 1” challenge. You’ll have full ownership of our inbound funnel, working directly with the founders to translate their technical vision into high-impact content that catches the eyes of bioinformaticians in their natural habitat.

We are not looking for an “ad-buyer” or a manager of agencies. We are looking for a maker. If you love the intersection between storytelling, technical education, and creative production, you’re going to have a lot of fun in this role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and operate the “Tracer Media” machine: Take full ownership of our publishing cadence. You aren’t just planning campaigns; you write the copy, edit the clips, and hit publish.
  • Shape the narrative: Work directly with Tracer’s founders and VP of Marketing to refine Tracer’s positioning and find ways to turn complex observability challenges into clear stories that appeal to the bioinformaticians who read them.
  • Community growth and distribution: Be the face and voice of Tracer on social channels. Engage in technical discussions on Reddit, LinkedIn, and Biostars and grow our audience through genuine value, not “promotional” posts.
  • Event & Webinar strategy: Plan and host technical deep-dives and webinars and repurpose long-form content into dozens of bite-sized assets for social distribution.
  • Marketing Ops and Analytics: Manage the tech stack required to distribute content (CMS, Email, CRM) and report on the metrics that matter and for you that’s:
  • Traffic growth
  • Engagement
  • Sign-ups

Skills & Experience (required)

Required:

  • 5+ years of developer tool or B2B marketing experience, ideally in enterprise, technical, or developer-focused products
  • Proven record. You have created content that drive inbound demand or community engagement
  • Hands-on creative skills, comfortable producing videos, carousels, and digital campaigns
  • Experience with technical writing: You must be able to edit a tutorial on cloud infrastructure and understand the difference between ‘latency’ and ‘throughput’.
  • Experience collaborating across sales, product, and design.
  • Proficiency with video/design tools (e.g. Figma, Descript, or your stack of choice.)
  • Based in London or willing to relocate (on-site collaboration is essential for context and creativity)

Nice-to-haves:

  • Experience in developer tools, AI, or life-sciences, or devtool infrastructure.
  • Personal content projects (LinkedIn, blog, or creative portfolio) that demonstrate marketing craft.
  • You have built or managed an active developer community
  • Familiarity with community-led and product-led growth.

Who You’ll Work With

  • Founders (Laura & Vincent): Partner closely to understand Tracer’s narrative and amplify their voices across digital channels, turning the company’s vision into stories that build trust and demand.
  • VP Marketing and founders: To shape Tracer’s narrative and make it resonate authentically with a technical audience who often tune out marketing.
  • Engineering Team (Michele, Vaibhav & Aliya): Collaborate to deeply understand the product and translate complex technical ideas into clear, engaging campaigns for scientists and engineers.
  • Product Designer (Paul): Ensure that visual storytelling and brand identity stay consistent, creative, and aligned with our mission.
  • Chief of Staff (Arne) + Growth Interns: Help operationalise and scale campaigns, from content distribution to performance tracking.
