Job Description
We are seeking a Data Engineer (IBM Cloud Pak for Data) to join a leading global aerospace company. In this role, you will operate, manage, and support the IBM Cloud Pak for Data platform—including installation, configuration, performance tuning, upgrades, and troubleshooting—ensuring stable, secure, and scalable data operations across Kubernetes/OpenShift environments.
This is a 12-month contract (extensions likely), 40-hour-per-week role (4-day 10-hour shifts per week), and this is a remote role in the US.
This is a W-2 role as a Stage 4 Solutions employee. Health benefits and a 401K are offered.
Responsibilities
- Proven ability to work with stakeholders, architects, vendors to resolve complex issues with mass adopted large scale enterprise application (IBM CloudPak for Data)
- Experience in installing, configuring and operating large scale enterprise class applications.
- Demonstrated experience with applications deployed in Kubernetes, Red Hat-OpenShift environments
- Understanding IBM Cloudpak (CP4D) Services architecture plus security.
- Perform backups, restores and administrative tasks on IBM cloud Pak for data.
- Ability to operate application landscapes, solutions for deployment within LM
- Strong background in application performance tuning, scaling, security and overall cloud based infrastructure components on which application runs.
- AWS cloud experience with core services like - S3, EC2, IAM, EBS Storage etc.
- Ability to upgrade and patch software, database components in an OpenShift/Kubernetes environment.
- Ability to lead testing efforts for load/performance testing and regression testing etc.
- Ability to learn and lead sustainment of IBM products like IBM Knowledge Catalog, Watson Query, Watson Studio, DataStage, WatsonX.Data and Cognos.
- Foundational understanding and experience with any one relational database (DB2, SQL Server, Postgres etc.)
- Knowledge and experience of delivering CI/CD and DevOps, Github capabilities in a data environment
- Strong expertise with scripting languages e.g. Python. RHEL scripting, Shells Bash, Ksh etc.
- Ability to interpret systems metrics for diagnosing and resolving problems
- Be able to work in Agile (Scrum/Jira) fast paced environment
- Strong communication and problem solving skills
- Candidate needs to be a U.S. citizen
- 10+ years of experience in IT systems
- Minimum Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Bachelor's or STEM discipline.
