Data Engineer

Fully Remote (US)


Leidos is a major leader in national security, government technology, and mission-critical innovation. Their National Security Sector is hiring a Data Engineer to support a high-impact DHS software development program. You’ll work closely with analysts, developers, and mission stakeholders to build data systems, analytics workflows, and predictive tools that drive decision-making across key operational functions.


What you'll do

  • Conduct data engineering, data analytics, data mining, exploratory and predictive analysis.
  • Build scalable data management systems and collaborate with users to optimize architectures.
  • Select backend database technologies and develop pipelines for structured + unstructured data.
  • Automate ingestion, transformation, and processing workflows using Python, R, or SQL.
  • Develop scripts and tools to integrate, clean, and merge disparate datasets.
  • Partner with collection managers and engineers to design new data processes and automation strategies.
  • Provide mission-relevant insights to non-technical stakeholders through clear narrative outputs.
  • Support multiple projects simultaneously, working independently and collaboratively in fast-paced teams.
  • Participate in briefings, working groups, and discussions to support Government stakeholders.

What you’ll need

  • Bachelor’s degree + 6–8 years experience in Statistics, Mathematics, Data Analytics, or related field.
  • US Citizenship + ability to obtain/maintain Public Trust clearance.
  • Strong background in data modeling, data warehousing, and database design.
  • Experience with relational databases, SQL, APIs, and backend data architectures.
  • Skilled in Python and/or R for analytics, modeling, and data manipulation.
  • Experience developing predictive models, classifiers, and statistical methods.
  • Ability to merge disparate data sources and build scalable pipelines.
  • Data visualization experience (Power BI, etc).


Preferred

  • Experience with Git, SVN, Jira, or related tools.
  • Azure data analytics experience.
  • Strong collaboration, communication, and problem-solving ability.
  • Proven ability to work in mission-driven, high-ambiguity environments.


Compensation

$85,150 – $153,925 base salary


(Exact offer depends on experience, skills, location, and internal equity.)
