Sr. Database Administrator:
Our client is seeking a Sr. Database Administrator to provide expert-level support across enterprise database environments spanning on-premises SQL Servers, Azure cloud platforms, and associated reporting systems. This role supports both daily production operations and new project initiatives, ensuring data platforms are secure, performant, and aligned with organizational needs.
This role is fully remote.
Sr. Database Administrator Responsibilities:
- Lead administration, optimization, and troubleshooting of SQL Server databases across on-prem and Azure cloud environments.
- Develop and maintain database architecture, standards, and best practices for large-scale transactional and reporting systems.
- Support and manage PBIRS server environments, including configuration, upgrades, and ongoing maintenance.
- Partner with development teams to design and enhance ETL processes used for analytics and enterprise reporting.
- Perform installation, patching, upgrades, and ongoing maintenance for databases and related infrastructure.
- Oversee data integrity and security, including access controls, monitoring, and compliance with internal requirements.
- Design, schedule, and manage database backup, restoration, and disaster recovery processes.
- Diagnose and resolve performance issues, adjusting configurations and tuning workloads for optimal efficiency.
- Develop scripts, triggers, and automation to support database reliability, migration, and lifecycle management.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and external partners on data integration and multi-platform system initiatives.
- Define project scope, gather requirements, recommend solutions, and provide technical leadership throughout project execution.
- Act as a subject matter expert on data warehousing architecture and enterprise database standards.
- Support adoption and use of modern BI tools across the organization, including SSRS and cloud-based analytics platforms.
Sr. Database Administrator Qualifications:
- 7 or more years of professional experience as a Database Administrator in enterprise environments.
- Advanced expertise with Azure SQL technologies, Azure Data Lake, Azure DevOps, Azure Blob Storage, and cloud-based database administration.
- Strong experience supporting SQL Server environments both on-premises and within Azure.
- Proficiency with PBIRS administration, including configuration, upgrades, and production support.
- Hands-on experience partnering with developers on ETL processes for analytics and reporting workloads.
- Ability to manage database performance tuning, troubleshooting, and complex problem resolution.
- Experience developing database scripts and performing multi-environment migrations (development, test, production).
- Skilled in managing backup strategies, failover processes, and disaster recovery planning.
- Familiarity with BI and reporting ecosystems such as SSRS, Tableau, and Power BI (preferred).
- Snowflake experience on Azure is a plus.
- Ability to manage multiple projects, balance competing priorities, and collaborate across departments.
