Journeyman Cloud Engineer

Leidos is hiring a Journeyman Cloud Engineer to support cloud modernization across AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud for the U.S. Coast Guard. You’ll work on mission-critical systems, helping design secure, scalable cloud architectures, support modernization efforts, and streamline DevOps practices — all while contributing to national security programs.


What you’ll do

  • Support the design and implementation of cloud solutions across AWS, Azure, and GCP
  • Contribute to reference architectures, cloud standards, and design patterns
  • Assist with cloud migrations, modernization, containerization, and microservices
  • Help manage IaC, automation scripts, and CI/CD pipelines
  • Monitor and optimize cloud performance, cost, and reliability
  • Support secure cloud environments using IAM, Zero Trust, and defense-in-depth
  • Assist with compliance work (SOC 2, HIPAA, PCI-DSS, government standards)
  • Participate in security assessments and vulnerability resolution
  • Work cross-functionally with engineering, security, operations, and product teams
  • Assist with customer onboarding and ensure smooth adoption of cloud services
  • Maintain documentation for architectures, processes, and cloud deployments


What you’ll need

  • BS + 4 years experience, or MS + 2 years (or equivalent experience)
  • 3+ years administering cloud applications (O365, SharePoint, Azure AD, AWS)
  • Hands-on Windows Server experience (setup, configuration, patching)
  • Strong understanding of Active Directory, Azure AD, SAML
  • Experience with AWS Console, Azure, Elastic, Ansible, Jira, Git, Bitbucket
  • Experience integrating AWS/Azure logs with Elastic/Splunk
  • Experience supporting AWS-hosted applications (deployments, patching, troubleshooting)
  • Ability to develop and document SOPs and operational workflows
  • Strong communication skills and stakeholder engagement
  • Must be able to obtain a Public Trust
  • Must hold at least one cloud certification (AWS or Azure)


Nice to have

  • Experience with Databricks and Kafka
  • Power BI and API management tools
  • Cloud security experience
  • Background working with federal agencies
