Job Description

Location: Remote (Higher priority given to candidates in Toledo, OH or Charlotte, NC)

Salary: $65,000–$80,000 (based on experience)

Employment Type: Full-Time

About the Role

We’re expanding our technical capabilities and building out a new offering centered around advanced network-based camera systems. We’re looking for a Network Camera Engineer who can take ownership of the backend camera networking, support system architecture, and help shape this capability into a scalable, repeatable service.

This role does not involve physical installation work. Your focus will be:

  • backend networking,
  • camera system optimization,
  • solution design, and
  • supporting sales engineering efforts.

If you’re strong in networking and excited about guiding a new technical service from the ground up, you’ll fit right in.

Key Responsibilities
  • Configure and support all backend networking for camera systems (VLANs, routing, DNS, DHCP, PoE switches, bandwidth management).
  • Troubleshoot camera streams, network latency, connectivity issues, firmware challenges, and VMS integration.
  • Help design and maintain scalable surveillance network architectures.
  • Support the development of a new camera capability — standards, documentation, processes, and best practices.
  • Provide sales engineering support, including solution scoping, capability demos, and technical recommendations.
  • Evaluate hardware, software, and tooling to improve performance and reliability.
  • Collaborate with leadership to shape the long-term direction of the camera service line.
Required Qualifications
  • 3+ years working with IP/network camera systems or video surveillance environments.
  • Strong understanding of TCP/IP, subnetting, VLANs, routing, DHCP, DNS, and general networking fundamentals.
  • Hands-on experience with VMS/NVR systems and major camera brands (Axis, Hikvision, Dahua, Avigilon, Hanwha, etc.).
  • Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills across network and video layers.
  • Ability to design scalable technical solutions.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to support technical teams and sales staff.
  • Self-starter comfortable taking ownership of a new capability.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Certifications such as Network+, CCNA, or similar.
  • Sales engineering or pre-sales technical experience.
  • Experience with cloud-based VMS platforms (Milestone, Eagle Eye, Genetec, etc.).
  • Background in solution architecture, product development, or technical program ownership.
What We Offer
  • Salary range: $65,000–$80,000
  • Fully remote work environment
  • Opportunity to grow into a Lead Engineer, Product Owner, or Sales Engineer
  • Ability to shape and build a new technical capability from the ground up
  • Collaborative and supportive team environment
