Job Description

Job Description

With over two decades of experience, our team at OBT offers a long-standing tradition of shipping and logistics expertise, along with strong connections to a network of leading ship owners, operators, and local logistics specialists.

Looking for your next opportunity?

As Logistics Manager, you will oversee and coordinate all logistics, shipping, warehousing, and supply-chain operations for OBT. You will be responsible for ensuring efficient, compliant, and cost-effective logistics solutions — including maritime shipping, port operations, cargo handling, warehousing, and distribution across the region. You will liaise with internal teams, external partners (ports, agents, freight forwarders, customs, etc.), and clients to deliver seamless services aligned with OBT’s standards and values.

Job Requirements

  • Minimum 4 years’ experience in logistics, shipping, or maritime operations (e.g., port operations, shipping agency, freight forwarding, supply chain), preferably with exposure to African markets.
  • Strong knowledge of maritime operations, port procedures, freight forwarding, customs processes, documentation, and supply-chain logistics.
  • Experience with project cargo, heavy-lift, or chartering is an advantage.
  • Familiarity with international shipping regulations, customs requirements, and import/export compliance.
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking skills; able to manage multiple shipments and stakeholders.
  • Proven leadership or team-management ability, with strong communication and coordination skills.
  • Problem-solving mindset and ability to handle operational challenges or delays.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for working with port authorities, clients, partners, and internal teams across time zones.
  • Willingness to relocate to Africa and work on-site.
  • Bachelor’s degree in logistics, supply-chain, business, maritime studies, or equivalent experience.

Job Responsibilities

  • Oversee end-to-end logistics operations: shipping agency, port calls, cargo handling, freight forwarding, storage/warehousing and distribution.
  • Coordinate with ports, vessels, agents, freight forwarders, customs authorities, warehouses, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth flow of goods.
  • Plan and manage project cargo and heavy-lift operations, including chartering, scheduling, loading/unloading, and documentation, where relevant.
  • Monitor performance metrics: transit times, port handling efficiency, storage utilization, costs, compliance, and quality control.
  • Develop logistics plans and strategies to optimize supply-chain routes, minimize costs, and improve delivery times.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance (local maritime, customs, import/export regulations, safety, documentation, etc.).

Job Benefits

  • Opportunity to work with a well-established pan-African maritime & logistics company with strong regional presence.
  • Provided tools for work such as laptop and mobile and phone.
  • Challenging and rewarding role with wide scope: shipping, supply-chain, freight forwarding, project logistics.
  • Relocation package.
  • Exposure to diverse projects across maritime, oil & gas, heavy-lift, warehousing and supply-chain sectors.
  • Collaboration with experienced international team and opportunity for career growth within OBT.
