Senior Data Engineer - Remote
£85,000 | Consultancy - Financial Services Client
My client are a leading tech consultancy. They are looking for an experienced Senior Data Engineer with deep expertise in Snowflake and DBT to join a consultancy team delivering cutting-edge data solutions for a major enterprise client in the financial services sector. This is a hands-on technical role focused on designing, building, and optimising data pipelines using Snowflake, dbt, and modern engineering practices.

Role and Responsibilities
- Design and optimise data pipelines and workflows within Snowflake
- Implement dbt models with strong testing and documentation standards
- Apply test-driven development principles for data quality and schema validation
- Develop efficient data loading strategies and incremental models
- Create transformation logic using SQL and Python
- dbt Development & Testing
- Build modular, reusable dbt models following best practices
- Configure and optimise dbt runs for performance and resource efficiency
- Manage deployments using Git and implement CI/CD pipelines
- Automate workflows using orchestration tools such as Airflow or dbt Cloud
- Monitor pipeline performance and implement alerting mechanisms
- Extensive Snowflake Optimisation
- Configure and tune Snowflake data warehouses for optimal performance
- Implement partitioning, clustering, and materialised views
- Develop advanced SQL queries, stored procedures, and user-defined functions
Required Skills & Experience
- 5+ years in data engineering roles
- 3+ years experience with Snowflake
- 2+ years production experience with dbt
- Advanced SQL and Python skills
- Strong understanding of Git-based workflows and CI/CD practices
- Familiarity with orchestration tools
- Strong experience with cloud platforms
- Possess consultancy and/or financial services experience
