Location: Lorton, VA (Onsite) • Travel Required


Overview

We are seeking for an experienced Network Engineer to join our highly skilled technical team in Lorton, Virginia. In this senior-level role, you will design, manage, and support complex network environments with a strong emphasis on LAN/WAN architecture and Azure networking. You will serve as a Tier 3 escalation point, ensuring the stability, security, and performance of mission-critical networks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, configure, and maintain LAN/WAN infrastructure and Azure networking components to deliver secure, high-performing network services.
  • Serve as a Tier 3 escalation resource, diagnosing and resolving advanced network issues with minimal operational disruption.
  • Monitor network health, identify risks or performance degradation, and implement proactive improvements.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to define and enforce network security policies and best practices in Azure and on-prem environments.
  • Perform ongoing network capacity planning and performance analysis, recommending enhancements based on future demands.
  • Mentor and train junior engineers and support personnel on network technologies and troubleshooting methodologies, including Azure-specific concepts.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation covering network designs, configurations, standards, and procedures.
  • Required Qualifications

    • 7–10+ years of professional network engineering experience.
    • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field or equivalent experience.
    • Strong background in LAN/WAN engineering, Azure networking, and enterprise-level network support.
    • Expert knowledge of core protocols such as TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, SNMP, VPN, BGP, and OSPF.
    • Experience with network security technologies including Palo Alto firewalls, IDS/IPS, and access control solutions, especially within Azure environments.
    • Proficiency with network monitoring/management tools (e.g., Wireshark, SolarWinds, Nagios), including Azure-native monitoring capabilities.
    • Hands-on experience with routers, switches, load balancers, Cisco/Juniper systems, and Azure services (VNets, subnets, VPN gateways, ExpressRoute).
  • Preferred

    • CCNP certification.


    Role Requirements

    • Must be local to or willing to relocate to Lorton, VA (relocation assistance available).
    • Must be able to work onsite; occasional off-hours support and on-call rotation required.
    • Active TS/SCI clearance or higher.
    • Must hold DoD 8570 IAT II certification.
    • Willingness and ability to travel frequently.
