Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Business Data Analyst with strong analytic and reporting skills. This role reports to the Chief Actuary. The ideal candidate will have prior experience analyzing health insurance claims, policy, and customer data to identify trends, improve quality of care, and reduce costs. The role also involves data extraction, analysis, visualization, and presentation to support data-driven decision-making for stakeholders. Candidates should have strong experience with Power BI, Python, and SQL. While this is a remote role, you must reside in the United States and in the Eastern or Central time zone.
Multi-tasking and a "roll up your sleeves" attitude are very much a must.

Roles & Responsibilities
- Data Extraction and Management: Pull health plan, member, provider, and operations data from various sources and databases using SQL.
- Data Analysis: Analyze large datasets to identify trends, patterns, and discrepancies across different types of operating data.
- Reporting and Visualization: Create reports, dashboards, and visualizations to present complex findings in an accessible format for both technical and non-technical audiences/stakeholders.
- Collaboration: Work with teams across the company to manage different types of data requests and to implement and evaluate data-driven solutions.
- Data Quality: Ensure data integrity across our systems by identifying discrepancies and recommending/implementing data capture and maintenance standards/processes.
Experience & Skills Desired
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Health Information Management, or a related field.
- Experience: 3+ years of experience in a data analysis role, preferably in the commercial health insurance industry (not Medicare, Medicaid, or individual market/ACA plans).
- Advanced SQL skills required, including experience extracting and manipulating large datasets for reporting.
- Advanced Power BI and Python skills also required.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Suite
- Ability to interpret complex data and make informed decisions
- Strong analytical and decision-making skills
- Excellent communication (written & verbal) and interpersonal skills
- Bonus: Experience with implementing automation
Telecommuting Requirements
- This is a remote position. Our whole company works remotely. Company headquarters are in Dallas, Texas.
- Company business hours are weekdays 9-5 CST. We will only consider candidates in the United States who reside in the CST or EST time zones.
- Required to have a dedicated work area established that is separate from other living areas and provides information privacy.
- Ability to keep all company sensitive documents secure.
- Must live in a location that receives an existing high-speed internet connection/service.
