The Position:
We are seeking a people-focused IT Systems Engineer to join our team in Spokane, WA. to As the IT Systems Engineer, you will be responsible for managing, maintaining, and enhancing the organization’s IT infrastructure to ensure optimal performance, security, and reliability. This role requires deep technical expertise, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to design and implement scalable solutions that support business growth. The ideal candidate is proactive, detail-oriented, and capable of leading complex projects while mentoring junior staff.
- Design, configure, and maintain servers, storage, and virtualization infrastructure across on-premises and cloud environments (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V, Azure, AWS).
- Administer and secure Active Directory, Microsoft 365, Okta, and related identity management systems, including group policies, SSO, and MFA.
- Manage core infrastructure services (DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, certificate/PKI, file/print, remote access) to meet uptime, performance, and security objectives.
- Oversee network operations, including firewalls, VPNs, switches, wireless systems, and WAN connectivity.
- Manage backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity plans to ensure data integrity and rapid restoration.
- Monitor system performance, capacity, and security posture; propose improvements and drive automation to increase efficiency.
- Contribute to IT policies, standards, and procedures aligned to enterprise governance and security frameworks, and support internal and external audits.
- Automate routine administration and configuration management using scripting and infrastructure-as-code tools where appropriate.
- Serve as Tier 3 escalation for complex incidents and problems, coordinating with vendors and service providers common in mid-sized environments.
- Lead or co-lead infrastructure projects such as upgrades, migrations, hardware refreshes, and SaaS/PaaS integrations, including planning, risk assessment, and documentation.
- Mentor junior administrators and service desk staff, providing guidance, knowledge transfer, and informal technical leadership within the team.
What We Are Seeking:

- Must be determined, ambitious, and self-motivated.
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field, or equivalent experience in enterprise environments preferred; high school diploma or equivalency certificate required.
- 7+ years of progressive systems administration/engineering experience, with at least 3 years supporting multi-site or mid-sized enterprise infrastructures.
- Expert-level experience with Windows Server, Active Directory, Group Policy, and Microsoft 365/Azure AD; Linux experience is a plus.
- Strong understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, VLANs, VPNs, routing, DNS) and security principles relevant to enterprise environments.
- Demonstrated experience with backup/DR platforms and enterprise monitoring tools.
- Proficiency in virtualization (VMware or Hyper-V), networking concepts (TCP/IP, VLANs, routing), and security practices.
- Experience with infrastructure automation tools (PowerShell, Terraform, Ansible) and monitoring platforms (e.g., SolarWinds, Datadog, PRTG, etc).
- Strong understanding of cybersecurity principles, identity governance, and incident response workflows.
- Strong communication and documentation skills; ability to work effectively with stakeholders across departments in a growing organization; ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Must be proficient in speaking, reading, and writing in English.
