About The Role
The RealReal is seeking a highly experienced and self-motivated Staff Software Engineer (Full Stack) to join our Growth team. In this pivotal role, you will work closely with Product partners and Engineering management to develop technical solutions that enhance our on-platform experiences. Your contributions will directly support the company's efforts to acquire and activate high-value customers while optimizing marketing effectiveness through seamless and engaging customer journeys. The ideal candidate is passionate about the luxury retail and e-commerce space, as well as sustainability initiatives aimed at creating a circular economy for high-end goods.
You will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing scalable, high-performance systems, mentoring junior engineers, and shaping the future of our technology stack. This fully remote position offers an excellent opportunity to influence the growth and success of the company by working cross-functionally with teams across marketing, data engineering, and machine learning to deliver innovative solutions that meet strategic business goals.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 7 years of software development experience.
- Proven experience with the development, scaling, and maintenance of distributed systems.
- Solid understanding of software engineering principles, architectural design, and agile methodologies.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently on complex issues.
- Effective communication skills, capable of conveying technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (preferred).
- Strong background in Ruby on Rails or Elixir (preferred).
- Experience developing and implementing marketing technology (MarTech) in collaboration with Product and Marketing teams (preferred).
- Experience working with Data Engineering and Machine Learning teams (preferred).
- Experience leading projects and mentoring junior engineers (preferred).
- Familiarity with AWS cloud services (preferred).
- Contributions to open-source projects or a strong GitHub portfolio (preferred).
- Design and develop scalable software solutions, making strategic architectural decisions to influence technical direction.
- Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to align technology development with overall business objectives.
- Communicate complex technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders to facilitate understanding and decision-making.
- Perform rigorous code reviews, advocate for best coding practices, and ensure the maintainability and efficiency of products.
- Provide mentorship and support to junior engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous learning.
- Research emerging technologies and industry trends to identify opportunities for enhancing projects and processes.
- Address complex technical challenges with innovative solutions, anticipating potential issues to ensure smooth project execution.
- Contribute to the evolution of the company's technology stack, ensuring robust, secure, and scalable systems.
- Work closely with Data Engineering and Machine Learning teams to integrate advanced analytics and AI-driven features.
