Job Description
This is a remote position.
As an System Engineer, you’ll be responsible for providing technical support, system administration, and automation across mainly Microsoft-based environments. You’ll troubleshoot issues, manage user access and identity, and help streamline operations using PowerShell scripting and other automation tools.
This role combines technical depth with customer interaction, ideal for someone who enjoys solving problems and working directly with end users and enterprise environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide 1st/2nd-line support for internal and customer systems in Microsoft and Windows environments
- Manage and administer Active Directory and Entra ID (Azure AD), including user provisioning, group policies, and access controls
- Automate routine tasks using PowerShell scripting and maintain clear documentation
- Configure and maintain Windows servers, clients, and related infrastructure components
- Support and optimize identity management workflows, especially with Adaxes (experience with Adaxes is a major plus)
- Troubleshoot and support network connectivity issues; collaborate with network engineers on escalations
- Assist with hybrid or cloud infrastructure, especially in Azure environments
- Participate in IT improvement projects, audits, and system upgrades
- Provide technical guidance to users and act as a trusted IT advisor to our clients
- Experience in IT support, systems administration, or a similar role
- Strong hands-on experience with Active Directory, Entra ID (Azure AD), and Windows Server/Client environments
- PowerShell scripting proficiency for automation and administrative tasks
- Understanding of networking fundamentals (DNS, DHCP, VPN, firewalls, routing)
- Experience with Azure infrastructure management (VMs, storage, identity, policies)
- Excellent troubleshooting skills and a customer-oriented mindset
- Strong communication skills, you're able to work directly with both end users and technical teams
- Comfortable working as an independent contractor
- Experience with Adaxes for identity lifecycle management (highly valued)
- Familiarity with Linux systems (Ubuntu, Debian, or Red Hat)
- Knowledge of Intune, Exchange Online, or other Microsoft 365 administration tools
