Job Description

About lemonly

lemonly is the AI Copilot for Hiring. We help companies screen resumes and capture interview notes automatically—so they can hire faster, smarter, and fairer. Our AI reads between the lines to uncover hidden talent, automates the repetitive admin of recruiting, and ensures every hiring decision is grounded in evidence, not bias.

We're trusted by teams across startups, healthcare, and robotics—and we're just getting started. If you're excited about building AI that makes a real difference in how companies find great people, we'd love to meet you.

About the Role

We're looking for an ML Engineer to improve the intelligence of lemonly's AI systems. You'll work across our core product—from the models that assess candidate fit to the interview assistant that captures and evaluates conversations. This is a hands-on, high-ownership role where you'll shape how our AI thinks, learns, and gets better over time.

You'll spend your time refining prompts, building evaluation frameworks, and shipping improvements to production. We're a small team, so you'll have direct impact on the product and work closely with engineering and customers.

What you'll do

  • Own and improve our LLM-powered systems end-to-end—from prompt engineering to production deployment
  • Design and run experiments to measure and improve model performance on real-world hiring tasks
  • Build evaluation frameworks and feedback loops to systematically improve AI accuracy and reliability
  • Refine prompts and context engineering to get better, more consistent outputs from language models
  • Collaborate with product and engineering to ship improvements that customers actually feel
  • Monitor production systems and debug issues when our AI doesn't behave as expected
  • Stay current with the fast-moving LLM landscape and bring new techniques to the team

What We're Looking For

  • Experience deploying ML models in production environments—you've shipped systems that real users depend on
  • Hands-on experience with LLMs and prompt engineering (working with APIs like OpenAI, Anthropic, or similar)
  • Strong TypeScript skills and comfort working across the stack when needed
  • Familiarity with NLP fundamentals and transformer architectures
  • A systematic approach to improving model quality—you know how to set up experiments, measure results, and iterate
  • Clear communication skills—you can explain technical tradeoffs to non-technical teammates

Nice to Have

  • Python experience for ML experimentation, scripting, or data analysis
  • Experience with RAG systems, vector databases, or LLM orchestration frameworks (LangChain, LlamaIndex)
  • Background in fine-tuning LLMs (LoRA, SFT, RLHF)
  • Familiarity with LLM evaluation tools and techniques
  • Experience at an early-stage startup or in a high-ownership engineering role
  • Interest in HR tech, hiring processes, or building tools that reduce bias in decision-making

What We Offer

  • Competitive salary ($150K–$200K) plus meaningful equity
  • Fully remote—work from anywhere in the US or Canada
  • Health, dental, and vision coverage
  • Flexible PTO and a culture that respects your time
  • Home office stipend to set up your workspace
  • Learning budget for courses, conferences, and books
  • A small, focused team where your work has direct impact on the product
