About the Role
We are seeking a Senior Data Engineer with extensive experience in Microsoft Azure to join our growing data team in Munich. In this role, you will lead the design, development, and optimization of cloud-based data solutions that support critical business decisions across the organization. Youβll work alongside data scientists, analysts, and software engineers to ensure our data infrastructure is scalable, secure, and future-proof.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines and ETL/ELT processes on Azure.
- Develop and manage Azure Data services including Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse, Databricks, Azure Data Lake, and Azure SQL.
- Optimize data storage and processing architecture for performance and cost-efficiency.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to define data requirements and implement robust solutions.
- Ensure data quality, data governance, and compliance with industry best practices.
- Monitor and troubleshoot data pipelines and infrastructure using tools like Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and Application Insights.
- Mentor junior data engineers and participate in code reviews and architecture discussions.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Masterβs degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in data engineering or a similar role.
- Proven expertise in Microsoft Azure cloud platform, especially in data-related services.
- Proficiency with SQL, Python, and Spark.
- Strong understanding of data modeling, data warehousing, and real-time data processing.
- Experience with CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Terraform, Bicep), and DevOps practices in Azure.
- Fluent in English; German is a plus.
Preferred Qualifications
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Engineer Associate or similar certification.
- Experience with data privacy and compliance standards (GDPR, ISO 27001).
- Familiarity with tools like dbt, Power BI, or Kafka.
- Agile development experience (Scrum, Kanban).
