Job Description
Title: EBH Operational Engineer
Location: Fully remote
Duration: 6 months
Overview: Cisco SME who would be CCNP level person who could create MOP’s, execute tests, provide Tier 1 engineering FOA support and have a strong knowledge of the Cisco 5500 and 540 platforms. This person would also work with Cisco and the Cisco BU for advanced/tier 2 support….things like PSIRT’s, Bug scrubs, etc. (relying upon Cisco to do that and report back, so person would “manage” that and drive Cisco to completion).
- Leadership qualities – supporting a field of consumers that intake the services that client supplies.
- Communication – leading technical discussions with a large group technical expert
- iOS – XR, Segment Routing, Background in SRTE (directional routing), ipV6, build a table of the protocols and services used on the routers
- Understands automation (built on Ansible Tower / Python – internal tool EVH-AP)
- Someone that has some experience with testing.
Description: client has an initiative to scale the number of use-cases that are automated via their internal tech stack While they are currently finding success, there is a need to scale the automation practice in order to accelerate the creation of backend workflows.
- Experienced in Python development
- Has previous work experience building cross-tool workflows (Bonus if they have experience with Itential)
- Understands how to build and leverage REST APIs for custom tooling
- Strong understanding of Network Technologies and Protocols
- Bonus: If they have experience creating Jinja templates, that would be a plus.
Required Qualifications
- Cisco CCNP-level expertise (formal certification preferred but not required with equivalent experience).
- Deep operational knowledge of Cisco 5500 and 5400 platforms.
- Strong experience developing MOPs, executing router tests, supporting FOA, and troubleshooting complex network issues.
- Expertise with Segment Routing, SRTE, IPv6, and iOS-XR environments.
- Proven leadership and communication skills for managing broad technical audiences and field operations.
- Strong Python development experience and familiarity with automation tools (Ansible Tower).
- Experience building cross-tool workflows and integrating automation solutions within large enterprise networks.
- Strong understanding of networking technologies, routing protocols, and operational best practices.
- Ability to build and leverage REST APIs for automation and tooling.
