Job Title: Systems Engineer


Location: Remote

Engagement Type: Long-Term Contract

Schedule: US Timezone – EST


Overview


We are seeking a highly skilled Systems Engineer with strong expertise in Azure, Microsoft 365, Intune, automation, and networking to support a wide range of SMB and enterprise clients. This role involves leading cloud deployments, performing migrations, implementing secure network architectures, and supporting both Windows and Apple device ecosystems in a modern cloud-first environment.


Key Responsibilities:


Cloud & Infrastructure


  • Design, deploy, and manage Azure environments, including virtual machines, Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD), networking, identity, and security services.
  • Lead migrations from on-premises systems or other platforms (e.g., Google Workspace) to Microsoft 365.
  • Configure, manage, and troubleshoot SharePoint Online, Teams, and Teams Phones.
  • Migrate file servers to SharePoint Online and create automation workflows using Power Automate.
  • Configure and integrate third-party SaaS applications with Teams, SharePoint, and other M365 tools.
  • Implement and maintain enterprise backup solutions (Azure Backup, Veeam).
  • Develop and maintain automation scripts using PowerShell, Python, or similar tools.


Device & Endpoint Management


  • Configure and manage Intune for Windows and Apple devices, including compliance, security policies, and application deployments.
  • Support VDI and cloud-based virtual desktop management.
  • Networking (Expanded Section)
  • Design, implement, and troubleshoot Azure networking: VNets, subnets, NSGs, VPN Gateways, routing, peering, and hybrid connectivity.
  • Configure and manage firewalls, including rulesets, NAT, VPN, SSL inspection, and IPS/IDS features.
  • Deploy and maintain SD-WAN solutions, site-to-site VPNs, and secure remote access.
  • Implement and manage SASE (Secure Access Service Edge) and ZTNA (Zero Trust Network Access) solutions for SMB environments.
  • Troubleshoot LAN/WAN environments, VLANs, QoS, wireless networks, and network performance issues.
  • Configure networking for Azure-based and on-premises workloads, including private endpoints and load balancing.
  • Monitor and maintain network health using NMS/monitoring tools.


Support & Collaboration


  • Work closely with clients and internal teams to resolve technical issues.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, SOPs, and knowledge base materials.
  • Participate in continuous improvement and contribute to process enhancements.


Must-Have Skills & Qualifications


  • Deep expertise in Azure services (VMs, AVD/VDI, Azure AD, security, identity, networking).
  • Strong networking background: firewalls, VPNs, SD-WAN, routing, switching, VLANs, wireless, and Azure networking.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 administration (SharePoint, Teams, Teams Phones, Power Platform).
  • Experience implementing SASE and ZTNA security models.
  • Strong skills in PowerShell, Python, or similar scripting languages for automation.
  • Experience with enterprise backup solutions (Azure Backup, Veeam).
  • Experience managing Windows and Apple devices via Intune.
  • Excellent troubleshooting, communication, and documentation skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple concurrent projects and meet deadlines.


Nice-to-Have Skills


  • Advanced Azure services: Logic Apps, Functions, App Services.
  • Power Apps or other low-code/no-code platforms.
  • Experience with tools like Microsoft Viva, SIEM/SOC solutions, or Microsoft Defender for Cloud.
  • Experience in MSP environments using HaloPSA, Ninja RMM, Addigy, or similar tools.
  • Familiarity with ITIL processes.


Relevant certifications:


  • Azure Solutions Architect
  • Microsoft 365 Enterprise Administrator
  • Networking certifications (CCNA, CCNP, Fortinet NSE, Palo Alto PCNSA/PCNSE)
