This is a remote position.
The Laravel Software Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining high-quality web applications using the Laravel framework. This role requires strong expertise in Laravel, solid PHP fundamentals, and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams. The developer will lead medium-sized tasks or modules, ensure best practices across the codebase, and contribute to the continuous improvement of development processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain robust web applications using Laravel and modern PHP standards.
- Build RESTful APIs, backend services, and scalable application architectures.
- Collaborate with product managers, designers, and other developers to define and implement new features.
- Troubleshoot, debug, and optimize Laravel applications for performance and reliability.
- Write clean, secure, and maintainable code following Laravel and PHP best practices.
- Implement and maintain Eloquent ORM models, migrations, queues, jobs, events, and scheduled tasks.
- Conduct code reviews and enforce coding standards within the team.
- Mentor junior developers by providing guidance, best practices, and technical support.
- Stay updated with the latest Laravel ecosystem updates, tools, and industry trends.
Requirements
Ideal candidates SHOULD have the following qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- 3–5 years of experience in PHP development with at least 2+ years in Laravel.
- Strong proficiency in PHP 7/8, Laravel framework, and MVC architecture.
- Experience with web technologies: HTML, CSS, JavaScript.
- Strong understanding of MySQL or other relational databases.
- Experience using Git and common branching workflows.
- Knowledge of RESTful API design and integration.
- Solid understanding of OOP and modern PHP practices (PSR standards, dependency injection, etc.).
Nice to Have
- Exposure to Agile/Scrum environments.
- Experience deploying or managing applications on AWS, DigitalOcean, or similar cloud platforms.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, Docker, or basic DevOps practices.
- Knowledge of Laravel ecosystem tools such as Horizon, Telescope, Forge, Vapor, Livewire, or Filament.
