Senior Database Administrator

This role offers an opportunity to manage, optimize, and secure critical database environments in a high-performance, innovative technology setting. You will oversee both on-premises and cloud-based SQL Server and MySQL platforms, ensuring stability, reliability, and scalability of systems that drive business operations. The position requires hands-on involvement in database monitoring, performance tuning, troubleshooting, and deployment of database objects. You will collaborate closely with Cloud Engineering, Application Development, and PMO teams, contributing to strategic initiatives that enhance system resilience and operational uptime. This role is ideal for professionals with strong analytical skills, a proactive approach to problem-solving, and a desire to influence platform evolution while supporting mission-critical systems in a fast-paced environment.

Accountabilities

• Maintain database performance, reliability, and security for mission-critical SQL Server and MySQL environments, both on-premises and in AWS (RDS/Aurora).
• Monitor, tune, and troubleshoot databases to optimize availability and latency.
• Deploy and manage database objects, including tables, indexes, stored procedures, views, and packages.
• Conduct root-cause analysis of database issues and implement long-term solutions.
• Participate in planning and executing projects to improve database infrastructure and system resiliency.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support scalable deployments, performance optimization, and database security standards.
• Participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation to support L1, L2, and L3 database incidents.
• Analyze performance metrics and query patterns to inform tuning and architectural improvements.
  
  

Requirements

• 6–10+ years of experience with SQL Server and MySQL administration and query tuning.
• Experience managing AWS database platforms, including RDS and Aurora.
• Knowledge of database development and deployment tools (SSIS/SSRS, CLR assemblies).
• Experience with very large databases (VLDB > 1 TB) and familiarity with NoSQL platforms.
• Proficiency with third-party SQL monitoring and management tools (e.g., Idera, RedGate, SolarWinds, Datadog, Splunk).
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
• Willingness to participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation.
• Relevant certifications are a plus (e.g., MCTS, MCITP, AWS Solutions Architect, AWS Database Specialty).
• Excellent collaboration and communication skills, with a proactive and detail-oriented mindset.
