Senior Embedded Software Lead Engineer – Austin, TX (Onsite)

Domain: Hardware/Chip Design & Embedded Software

Compensation: USD 180,000–200,000 + Meaningful Equity

Schedule: Onsite, Monday–Friday (no remote/hybrid)

Role Overview

Lead the development of bare-metal firmware for advanced chip subsystems (DSP/PHY-adjacent) and support both pre- and post-silicon bring-up/debug. This position is the senior technical anchor for the Austin site, providing deep technical expertise, mentoring engineers, and coordinating closely with teams in Israel and Boston.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and debug bare-metal embedded firmware running on-chip
  • Implement interfaces to signal-processing blocks and contribute to DSP firmware features
  • Integrate and validate system behavior with digital and analog engineering teams
  • Support chip bring-up and system-level debugging in pre-/post-silicon environments
  • Provide senior technical leadership, mentorship, and act as a primary local resource
  • Coordinate cross-functionally across firmware, SDK, and hardware test teams

Required Skills & Experience

  • 15+ years in real-time embedded software/firmware engineering
  • Advanced expertise in Embedded C
  • Strong semiconductor/ASIC background
  • Proven experience developing bare-metal firmware
  • Solid understanding of DSP and PHY concepts
  • Hands-on SPI driver/integration experience; familiarity with I2C
  • Experience working with APIs, SDKs, and chip-level firmware ecosystems
  • Python scripting for testing, tooling, automation

Preferred Skills

  • DSP/PHY experience in RF/wireless/modem/SDR (LTE, 5G, GSM, etc.)
  • RTOS background
  • Embedded Linux experience
  • CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab)
  • Strong Git workflows
  • Prior experience working with distributed teams
