Job Description

Role: Fractional AI Engineer

At Humiint, we understand that Artificial Intelligence isn't just a technological advancement—it's a transformative force reshaping industries, creating new opportunities, and redefining competitive advantage. Effectively architecting, engineering, and deploying AI solutions across business functions is crucial for innovation, efficiency, and future growth. As companies seek to leverage AI's full potential, they often need expert technical execution to build intelligent capabilities and integrate AI robustly and scalably—without always needing a full-time, in-house team immediately.

We’re looking to connect with experienced Fractional AI Engineers who can provide hands-on technical expertise and development power across diverse organizations. This role is ideal for skilled builders and problem-solvers who are passionate about harnessing AI to solve complex business problems, engineer innovative solutions, and ship production-grade code.

This opportunity is perfect for seasoned AI developers and engineers who have a proven track record of designing, building, and deploying impactful AI applications, creating scalable data pipelines, and navigating the technical complexities of AI adoption. Whether you’ve been a Senior AI Engineer, Machine Learning Engineer, Full-Stack Developer with an AI focus, or a technical consultant building prototypes and production systems, this role offers the flexibility to apply your engineering prowess across multiple high-impact companies.

Key Responsibilities May Include:

  • Designing and implementing robust AI/Machine Learning architectures that align with business requirements, transforming concepts into functioning technical specifications.
  • Hands-on coding, training, fine-tuning, and deploying models (including LLMs, RAG pipelines, or classical ML) from experimentation to production environments.
  • Establishing and maintaining MLOps best practices, including model versioning, automated testing, CI/CD pipelines, and performance monitoring.
  • Building and optimizing data pipelines to ensure clean, reliable data flow for model training and inference.
  • Integrating cutting-edge AI technologies, APIs, and open-source frameworks (e.g., LangChain, PyTorch, TensorFlow) into existing software ecosystems.
  • Collaborating with product managers, backend engineers, and data scientists to ensure seamless AI integration into user-facing applications.
  • Implementing technical guardrails for AI safety, including bias detection, output validation, and data privacy security measures.
  • Optimizing model performance for latency, cost, and scalability in cloud environments (AWS, GCP, Azure).
  • Acting as a technical thought partner to CTOs or founders on feasibility, tool selection, and the engineering roadmap for AI initiatives.

Key Requirements May Include:

  • Proven experience in a hands-on AI/ML engineering, software development, or data science role with a focus on production deployment.
  • Track record of successfully shipping AI-powered features or applications that drive measurable business value.
  • Deep expertise in Python and modern AI/ML frameworks (e.g., PyTorch, TensorFlow, Scikit-learn) and GenAI tools (e.g., OpenAI API, Hugging Face, LangChain).
  • Strong understanding of MLOps principles, cloud infrastructure, containerization (Docker/Kubernetes), and API development (FastAPI/Flask).
  • Excellent technical communication skills, capable of explaining complex engineering trade-offs to non-technical stakeholders and collaborating with cross-functional teams.
  • Problem-solving mindset with intellectual curiosity and a passion for writing clean, maintainable, and efficient code.
  • Prior experience as a freelance, contract, or fractional engineer is a strong plus.

Additional Information:

  • Set your own pricing
  • 100% Remote (with optional on-site if desired)
  • Flexible schedule and client engagements
  • Collaborate across industries and verticals

At Humiint, we partner with AI talent who don't just understand the theory—they write the code that powers intelligent futures and drives transformative growth. If you're an AI Engineer ready to support fast-moving companies with high-quality, flexible technical leadership, we'd love to hear from you.
