Role Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Testing Engineer with strong experience in SOC compliance frameworks, particularly SOC 2 and foundational knowledge of SOC 1. This role will focus on executing and supporting testing activities related to system functionality, security controls, process compliance, and quality assurance. The candidate will work fully remote from Mexico as part of a distributed U.S.-based engineering and compliance team.
The ideal candidate has a solid background in QA/testing methodologies, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, security, and compliance stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute test plans, test cases, and test scripts for software systems and internal controls.
- Perform testing activities aligned with SOC 2 requirements, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and traceability.
- Support audits by gathering evidence, validating controls, and documenting test results.
- Conduct functional, regression, and integration testing to ensure software and process quality.
- Identify defects, create detailed issue reports, and collaborate with engineering teams for resolution.
- Assist in maintaining test documentation associated with SOC 1 and SOC 2 controls.
- Participate in process improvement initiatives, contributing to enhanced testing efficiency and compliance readiness.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams across time zones to support U.S.-based operations.
Required Qualifications
- 3–5 years of experience in software testing, QA engineering, or control testing.
- Proven experience working with SOC 2 audits, evidence collection, or control testing (mandatory).
- Foundational understanding of SOC 1 concepts and associated testing requirements.
- Hands-on experience with testing tools, defect tracking, and documentation platforms (e.g., Jira, TestRail, Confluence).
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently, manage deadlines, and communicate clearly in English.
Preferred Skills
- Experience in automation testing (optional but a plus).
- Familiarity with cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Knowledge of IT security standards, compliance frameworks, or risk management practices.
- Experience working in distributed or remote teams.
