My client is a well-capitalized Series A startup seeking a Staff Data Engineer to join their founding team. This is a fully remote role for a veteran technologist who wants to build the infrastructure for a next-generation, AI-native environmental prediction system from the ground up.

The Role
This is a role for a builder, not a learner. You will architect core infrastructure from a blank slate, turning raw observational weather data into actionable insights.
- Architect from Scratch: Design and build the data ingestion systems for massive streams of raw satellite and radar data.
- Operationalize AI: Build the pipelines that take Deep Learning models from research to production.
- Scale Infrastructure: Make high-level decisions on Cloud-native architecture (GCP/AWS).
- Bridge the Gap: Create the tooling that allows data scientists to work efficiently at scale.
Essential Requirements
- Seasoned Veteran: 5+ years of engineering experience with a history of building complex data systems/platforms from scratch.
- Python Expert: Deep, production-level proficiency in Python.
- Cloud Native: Architect-level experience with managed services on GCP or AWS.
- Orchestration Master: Proven ability using tools like Dagster, Airflow, or Prefect for complex ML pipelines.
- Autonomy: You must be able to work independently in a remote, fast-paced environment.
