Solutions QA Engineer (Former Capital One Required)
Location: 100% Remote
Duration: 12+ Months (extension possible)
About the Role
We’re looking for a Solutions QA Engineer with genuine former Capital One experience to perform deep, exploratory QA across modern data engineering tools. This is a manual-first role focused on discovering failure modes, validating integrations, and recreating complex customer issues across APIs, CLIs, orchestrators, and cloud workflows.
You’ll act as an integration investigator, testing real-world configurations before they reach production.
Must-Have Requirements
- Former Capital One experience — required (no exceptions)
- Experience in software QA, technical testing, or support engineering
- Strong familiarity with modern data stack tools such as:
- Airflow
- Terraform
- DBT
- Databricks
- GitHub Actions
- Azure Data Factory
- AWS
- Ability to manually set up test environments across multiple platforms
- Experience testing APIs, CLI tools, and system integrations
- Strong written documentation skills (bug reports, test cases, reproduction steps)
- Self-driven and comfortable exploring unfamiliar systems
- Able to work independently in a fully remote environment
- Comfortable testing in complex customer environments with non-standard configs
What You’ll Do
- Perform exploratory, production-oriented QA across high-impact integration paths
- Reproduce and document issues reported by end users or support teams
- Test APIs, CLI workflows, orchestration behavior, and system responses under varied conditions
- Validate integrations across DBT, Airflow, Terraform, ADF, Databricks, GitHub Actions, and Snowflake
- Identify system vulnerabilities, unexpected behaviors, and failure boundaries
- File clear, actionable defect reports with reproduction paths and environment details
- Track QA coverage across connectors, tools, and orchestration flows
- Partner with Support and Product teams to prioritize edge cases
- Help shape early runbooks, testing patterns, and future automation
- Serve as an internal “integration hunter” to catch issues before customers do
