About The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Principal Data Engineer with 7–10 years of industry experience to join our team. This role is pivotal in designing, developing, and maintaining robust data pipelines that connect our data warehouse with marketing and customer engagement platforms. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience working in high-transaction, high-volume e-commerce environments. Your primary focus will be on building reliable, scalable, and efficient integrations that enable customer segmentation, targeted campaign execution, and feedback loops from engagement data back into our core systems. You will play a critical role in ensuring that our marketing and analytics teams have access to accurate, timely data to drive insights and decision-making. Additionally, you will identify architectural efficiencies, implement cost-saving measures, and contribute to the overall data strategy of the organization. This is a fully remote position, offering flexibility to candidates based in the US or Canada, with a preference for those in Central and Eastern time zones.

Qualifications

  • 7–10 years of professional experience as a data engineer in high-volume e-commerce or transactional platforms
  • Expertise in Python, including data scripting, automation, and API integrations
  • Strong SQL skills with experience working with modern data warehouses such as Redshift, Snowflake, or BigQuery
  • Hands-on experience with data integrations involving internal systems and third-party platforms
  • Familiarity with APIs, data pipelines, and workflow orchestration tools such as Airflow, dbt, or AWS Glue
  • Proficiency in cloud computing platforms, particularly AWS services, with at least 3 years of experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or an equivalent field
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines using Python and SQL to facilitate data movement between data warehouses and external platforms
  • Automate data workflows to ensure accuracy, scalability, and timely data delivery for marketing and analytics teams
  • Implement bi-directional data flows that feed customer and campaign data into engagement platforms and capture performance and behavior data back into internal systems
  • Collaborate with marketing, analytics, and CRM teams to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize data pipelines to maintain high data quality and system reliability
  • Document processes, workflows, and schemas to ensure knowledge sharing and long-term maintainability of data systems
  • Ensure compliance with data governance, security, and privacy standards across all data operations
  • Identify opportunities for architectural improvements, resource optimization, and cost reductions

Benefits

  • Competitive salary package based on experience and location
  • Health benefits including medical, dental, and vision coverage
  • 401(k) retirement plan with company match
  • Flexible remote work environment
  • Paid time off and holidays
  • Professional development opportunities and continuous learning programs
  • Employee assistance programs and wellness resources
  • Inclusive and diverse workplace culture that values innovation and collaboration
