Location: UK - Remote. We anticipate moving to hybrid later; occasional in-person collaboration in Liverpool.
Start: Target Early Jan 2026 (some flexibility)
Compensation: Junior band £26k–£30k. Formal 6-month review tied to performance & funding; target uplift to £32k–£38k.

The Role
We are looking for a highly motivated Junior Software Engineer to join our growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone early in their career to contribute across the stack and gain experience in a brand new startup environment.
- Develop and maintain Python backend services on AWS (including Lambda, API Gateway, S3, DynamoDB).
- Develop and maintain the frontend using React and Typescript.
- Work closely with scientists and engineers to convert research requirements into functional software.
- Assist in the development and continuous improvement of Machine Learning and data processing pipelines.
Must-Haves
- Solid Python skills and experience writing maintainable code.
- Exposure to web backends or cloud services (university, projects, or internships count).
- Coding best practices including version control, testing, and CI/CD
Nice to Have
- AWS (Lambda, DynamoDB, S3, API Gateway).
- Infrastructure as Code (SST is desired).
- Frontend with React and TypeScript.
- ML frameworks (PyTorch/TensorFlow) or scientific Python (NumPy/Pandas).
- LLM frameworks (MCP/Langchain)
- Degree in CS/Maths/Physical Sciences/Engineering; advanced degrees welcome but not required.
