Data Engineer - AI (UK Remote)

We're working with a mission-driven SaaS business. Their platform supports the full lifecycle of complex, data-intensive cases and plays a meaningful role in improving outcomes across a highly regulated sector.

They're looking for a Data Engineer to design, build and maintain the data infrastructure underpinning their AI capabilities. You'll work closely with AI and MLOps engineers to enable secure, scalable and compliant data pipelines that support model training, evaluation and continuous improvement.

What you'll be doing

  • Building and maintaining robust ETL/ELT pipelines for large, complex datasets

  • Designing scalable data platforms (lakes, warehouses, streaming) to support AI workloads

  • Implementing data validation, observability and monitoring to ensure quality and reliability

  • Embedding privacy, security and compliance (GDPR / regulated data standards) by design

  • Collaborating cross-functionally to enable reproducible, production-grade AI systems

What we're looking for

  • Proven experience as a Data Engineer in production environments

  • Strong Python and SQL skills with modern data architectures

  • Experience building scalable data pipelines in a cloud environment (Azure preferred)

  • Solid understanding of data governance, quality and compliance in regulated domains

  • Comfortable working closely with AI, ML or MLOps teams

Nice to have

  • Experience with healthcare, legal or other sensitive datasets

  • Exposure to MLOps, data versioning or model retraining pipelines

  • Experience mentoring or helping shape data engineering standards
