Job Description


Full Relocation to Democratic Republic of Congo required - Relocation package provided.


Key Responsibilities

  • Design system configurations, oversee installations, and define/document/enforce network standards.
  • Develop new network solutions and enhance the resilience of existing infrastructure.
  • Monitor and optimize network performance; troubleshoot issues/outages and plan upgrades.
  • Investigate data network failures across local and extended environments using multi-source information.
  • Strengthen network security by establishing/enforcing policies and monitoring access.
  • Administer and support firewall environments in line with IT security policies.
  • Prepare and present reports on network operational status and manage related projects.
  • Upgrade network equipment to the latest stable firmware versions.
  • Configure routing, switching, hosted IP voice services, and firewalls.
  • Provide remote support to on-site engineers and end users during installations.
  • Perform remote troubleshooting for issues arising during initial setup.
  • Conduct capacity management and audit IP addressing and data-center-hosted devices.


Network Types:

  • Local Area Networks (LAN) - connecting a limited area such as a house, office or a small group of buildings,
  • Metropolitan Area Networks (MAN) - connecting a large area such as a campus,
  • Wide Area Network (WAN) - connecting networks nationally or internationally, • Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN),
  • Storage Area Network (SAN) - storage/system/server/small network,
  • Campus Area Network (CAN) - covering an educational or corporate campus,
  • Desk Area Network (DAN) - office network, interconnection of workstations, and multimedia devices,
  • Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) - method and group of technologies delivering voice communications and multimedia sessions.


Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years of relevant work experience (or an equivalent combination of education and experience) in network operations, engineering or system management
  • CCNP certification (mandatory) - Preferably Service provider
  • Proven experience as a Network Engineer in the telecom/IT industry.
  • Strong knowledge of routing, switching, firewalls, and network security.
  • Hands-on experience with Cisco technologies.
  • Strong expertise in traffic flow analysis and troubleshooting.
  • Demonstrates situational awareness and proactively resolves customer issues and service inefficiencies with minimal supervision.
  • Solid understanding and troubleshooting experience in IP/MPLS and Ethernet routing and switching.
  • Proficient in EGP and IGP routing protocols, including MP-BGP, IS-IS, EIGRP, and OSPF.
  • Good knowledge of MEF Carrier Ethernet concepts and technologies supporting Metro Ethernet and VPN services (VPLS, MPLS-TE, etc.).
  • Experienced with Cisco IOS and IOS-XR operating systems.
  • Skilled in creating network and service diagrams/documentation using Microsoft Visio and MS Office tools.
  • Fluency in French and/or English is an advantage
