Job Description

About The Company

Founded in 2018, Quince is a pioneering direct-to-consumer retail company dedicated to redefining the standards of quality, affordability, and sustainability. Our mission is to challenge the notion that premium essentials must come with a high price tag. We achieve this by leveraging a unique business model that eliminates middlemen, utilizes just-in-time manufacturing, and emphasizes transparency and ethical practices. Quince partners with top-tier manufacturers worldwide to deliver high-quality, timeless essentials crafted from sustainable materials, ensuring our customers receive products that are both beautiful and responsible. Our commitment to excellence, innovation, and social responsibility guides every aspect of our operations, making us a trusted leader in the retail industry.

About The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and innovative Staff Data Scientist specializing in Performance Marketing to join our dynamic data science team. In this role, you will be at the forefront of transforming how Quince approaches marketing strategies through advanced data science and AI solutions. Your primary responsibility will be to develop and optimize predictive models that enhance campaign efficiency, drive customer acquisition, and improve retention. You will design intelligent bidding and budget allocation systems, craft audience segmentation strategies, and build scalable data pipelines from raw data sources to actionable insights. This position offers a unique opportunity to make a significant impact on our growth trajectory by leveraging cutting-edge techniques such as reinforcement learning, multi-armed bandits, and causal inference. Collaborating closely with cross-functional teams including Marketing, Finance, and Product, you will translate business objectives into testable hypotheses, define success metrics, and lead experimentation efforts to ensure data-driven decision-making. This role is ideal for a strategic thinker with a passion for growth marketing and a deep understanding of machine learning applications in e-commerce environments.

Qualifications

  • MS or PhD in statistics, mathematics, engineering, computer science, economics, or a related quantitative field.
  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience as a growth data scientist in relevant industries such as e-commerce or marketplace platforms.
  • Proven expertise in applying machine learning, predictive modeling, and causal inference to optimize marketing performance.
  • Deep knowledge of statistical and machine learning techniques, including reinforcement learning, multi-armed bandits, and uplift modeling.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python and SQL.
  • Experience with data science libraries and frameworks relevant to predictive modeling and analytics.
  • Strong understanding of growth and performance marketing strategies in digital commerce environments.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to think critically and strategically about complex business challenges.
  • Experience working with BI tools such as Looker, Tableau, or similar platforms.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills, capable of translating technical insights into actionable business recommendations.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and own end-to-end predictive models for marketing campaign efficiency, including conversion rate, CPA forecasting, churn prediction, and audience response modeling.
  • Design and implement dynamic budget allocation and bidding optimization engines across various channels such as paid search, paid social, display advertising, and emerging platforms.
  • Create audience targeting strategies utilizing look-alike modeling, segmentation, clustering, and uplift modeling techniques to maximize incremental impact.
  • Build and maintain reliable feature and model pipelines from raw data streams, ensuring seamless deployment in both batch and real-time environments.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate business goals into testable hypotheses, define success metrics, and conduct statistically rigorous experiments including A/B tests and sequential analyses.
  • Develop simulation and forecasting tools to model scenarios such as spend curves, diminishing returns, seasonality effects, and cannibalization risks.
  • Stay abreast of the latest advancements in AI, machine learning, and growth marketing to continuously enhance modeling techniques and strategies.
  • Partner with Marketing, Finance, and Product teams to ensure alignment of data science initiatives with overall business objectives.
  • Communicate complex analytical insights clearly to non-technical stakeholders and executive leadership.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary range of $190,000 - $235,000 USD, commensurate with experience.
  • Flexible work arrangements, including fully remote options for candidates outside the SF Bay Area.
  • Health, dental, and vision insurance coverage.
  • Generous paid time off and holiday policies.
  • Opportunities for professional growth and development within a rapidly scaling company.
  • Participation in equity and bonus programs, subject to company performance and individual contribution.
  • A collaborative and innovative work environment that values diversity and inclusion.
