The Data Integration Group is looking for a Data Analyst who will support the Program Integration Office (PIO) generation of metrics, dashboards and reports that will enable data-driven decisions and efficient work-flow management. Key responsibilities will include leading data improvement initiatives, design, and operation of metric suites in Power BI, and database integration. This role requires expertise in data mining, modeling, validation, analysis, and visualization.
Key Responsibilities
- Document entity relationship diagrams and design data models within PowerBI.
- Writes SQL queries to perform data mining and validation utilizing PL/SQL and MySQL.
- Prepare user operating instructions for PowerBI Dashboards.
- Prepares time and cost estimates and schedules for Dashboard and metric suite development and maintenance or modification tasks.
- Coordinates with IT personnel to identify data requirements.
- Participates in software development and support personnel defining software requirements for development, maintenance or improvements.
- Coordinates or develops and implements plans for data validation tests between multiple databases and PowerBI Dashboards.
- Provide instruction on PowerBI dashboard end user operation, data lineage, and data mining practices.
- Resolves PowerBI Dashboard issues that arise from operations and end user feedback.
- May provide support to the User Support Training organization.
- May design, code, test, debug, document and maintain programs / dashboards.
- May use CASE tools.
- May provide guidance, training, and assistance to other IT personnel.
- May prepare specifications from which programs will be written.
- May plan and coordinate data-related activities, including:
- Coordinating requests for access to data
- Developing and implementing data administration standards regarding validation, integrity, storage, and security of data; internal object naming conventions, and data access methods
- Developing strategic and functional plans for the evolution of data and information architecture
- Resolving issues associated with data administration
- Bachelor’s degree in a computer-related field or equivalent training and experience with at least 2 years of relevant experience.
- Basic knowledge of technical principles, theories, standards, practices and procedures in software development or database administration.
- Experience in tools and technology used by NNSS.
- Ability to lead projects that may involve other IT sections, other departments, and consultants.
- Ability to manage increasing number of tasks.
- Ability to support multiple software applications or database platforms.

- The primary work location will be at the Losee Road facility in North Las Vegas, Nevada.
- Work schedule for this position will be 4/10’s (subject to change).
- Pre-placement physical examination, which includes a drug screen, is required. MSTS maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing.
- Must possess a valid driver's license.
Department of Energy L Clearance (position will be cleared to this level). Reviews and tests for the absence of any illegal drug as defined in 10 CFR Part 707.4 , “Workplace Substance Abuse Programs at DOE Sites,” will be conducted. Applicant selected will be subject to a Federal background investigation, required to participate in subsequent reinvestigations, and must meet the eligibility requirements for access to classified matter. Successful completion of a counterintelligence evaluation, which may include a counterintelligence-scope polygraph examination, may also be required. Starting salary is determined based on the position market value, the individual candidate education and experience and internal equity.
