Job Description

🚀 Hiring: Robotics Software Engineer (Scientific Physical AI) — San Francisco (Onsite)

We’re building a Scientific Physical AI platform that combines AI + robotics + biology to accelerate life science research—helping scientists generate orders of magnitude more data and move faster on breakthrough discoveries.

This is a high-ownership, real-robot role (not just research or simulation). You’ll ship robust systems that operate in messy, dynamic environments and work with tools originally designed for humans.

What you’ll do
  • Build robotic solutions to manipulate and control biology tools and lab equipment
  • Develop & implement motion planning to avoid collisions in complex environments
  • Use computer vision to work with consumables and equipment
  • Integrate, test, and debug software in simulation and on physical robots
  • Partner directly with scientists at customer labs to understand pain points and deliver solutions fast
  • Design for robustness, performance, scalability, and simplification
What we’re looking for
  • 4+ years building algorithms for robotics systems
  • Experience or familiarity with robot arm manipulators
  • Strong Python
  • Solid software engineering fundamentals + production best practices
  • High agency: pragmatic builder mindset, comfortable with ambiguity
  • Willingness to wear many hats across the stack
  • BS/MS/PhD in CS/ME/EE (or equivalent experience)
Bonus points
  • Simulation experience (e.g., PyBullet, MuJoCo)
  • Robotics in lab/manufacturing environments
  • Familiarity with mechanical design workflows/tools (e.g., SolidWorks)
  • Knowledge of communication protocols (e.g., ZMQ, Redis, gRPC)
  • Shipped software that controls real hardware products
Compensation & location
  • $150K – $230K base + competitive equity
  • 100% onsite, 5 days/week in San Francisco
  • Relocation support available
  • Visa sponsorship possible for exceptional candidates
  • Hiring 6–8 engineers
