About The Role
We are seeking a talented Software Engineer to join our Marketing Enablement & Technology (MET) team within the Marketing organization. This team is responsible for developing and maintaining the systems, APIs, and data pipelines that power Instacart's Paid Marketing channels—one of our primary growth drivers. Operating at the nexus of Marketing, Product, and Engineering, the MET team owns the platforms that support campaign feeds, audience targeting, event pipelines, and automation for quality assurance. In this role, you will focus on building backend services and ETL processes that enable seamless marketing campaign execution, accurate conversion tracking, and efficient third-party integrations across diverse advertising platforms such as Paid Social, Display, SEM, Online Video, Linear Television, and Streaming Audio. Your work will directly influence our ability to optimize marketing strategies, measure performance, and drive measurable growth. Collaboration with cross-functional teams including Marketing, Operations, Sales, and Engineering will be essential to translate business needs into scalable technical solutions that enhance our marketing efforts.
Qualifications
- 3–5 years of software engineering experience with a strong focus on Python for backend development
- Proficiency in building APIs, backend services, and data pipelines
- Experience with data integration technologies such as Snowflake, SQL, and ETL processes
- Familiarity with workflow orchestration tools like Airflow and data transformation frameworks like DBT
- Hands-on experience working with third-party APIs and integrations, particularly in marketing or ad tech environments
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to independently deliver complete features and manage multiple priorities
- Effective communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain robust backend services, APIs, and data pipelines supporting marketing campaigns and conversion tracking
- Design, develop, and optimize ETL processes that integrate data from sources such as Google Analytics, Snowflake, and third-party ad platforms
- Implement features end-to-end, ensuring code quality, security, and reusability while adhering to team standards
- Leverage workflow automation tools like Airflow and data transformation frameworks such as DBT to enhance system efficiency and observability
- Collaborate with marketing teams to understand business requirements and translate them into scalable technical solutions
- Work closely with third-party channel providers to streamline ad conversions, troubleshoot issues, and improve data accuracy
- Monitor system performance, logging, and metrics to ensure high availability and reliability of marketing data pipelines
