Description of Position: Serves as the USSPACECOM Subject Matter Expert (SME) and Senior Staff Data Science Manager, overseeing the development, management, fielding, and sustainment of the USSPACECOM Data Ecosystem. Provides strategic analysis and technical expertise to the Command CDAO and the CDAO team on data architecture, integration, applications, analytics, AI/ML, and related policy matters. Routinely represents USSPACECOM in DoW, Inter-agency, and Coalition forums on Data/AI/ML issues.
Position Responsibilities:
- Advises and provides strategic analysis to USSPACECOM CDAO on all matters associated with the Data Ecosystem, including data architecture, integration, applications, analytics, AI/ML.
- Manages the planning and capability development of the USSPACECOM Data Ecosystem, ensuring optimal performance and alignment with strategic objectives.
- Performs management and oversight for the USSPACECOM Data Ecosystem, including data architectures, data acquisition systems, data analytics tools, and AI/ML.
- Conducts studies of complex issues, evaluates the impact of new technologies, and provides recommendations to inform leadership decisions.
- Provides technical guidance and advisory support on projects, exploring new data sources, capabilities, and AI/ML applications.
- Represents the USSPACECOM CDAO at meetings, conferences, and seminars, collaborating with government, industry, and inter-agency representatives.
- Develops and delivers comprehensive technical reports, budgets, and progress updates.
- Effectively manages multidisciplinary teams, identifying and addressing challenges, and facilitating collaboration to achieve project goals.
Desired Skills/Expertise:
- Expertise in data science principles, data architecture, data integration, data analytics, AI/ML, and related technologies.
- Experience with coding in Python
- Familiarity with the AWS environment
- Familiarity with Palantir products, to include MAVEN and Warp Core
- In-depth knowledge of DoW data policies, procedures, and security protocols.
- Demonstrated ability to provide strategic analysis and technical expertise to senior leadership.
- Experience in managing the development, fielding, and sustainment of large-scale data ecosystems.
- Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex technical information to diverse audiences.
- Proven ability to lead and manage multidisciplinary teams to achieve project goals.
- Experience representing an organization at meetings, conferences, and technical exchange forums.

Basic Requirements:
Degree: Mathematics, statistics, computer science, data science or field directly related to the position. The degree must be in a major field of study (at least at the baccalaureate level) that is appropriate for the position.

Combination of education and experience: Courses equivalent to a major field of study (30 semester hours) as shown in paragraph A above, plus additional education or appropriate experience.
