Job Description
We are seeking a seasoned and innovative Senior Developer to join a high-impact team focused on building high-performance, real-time trading solutions. This is an exciting chance to influence the architectural design and execution of mission-critical systems used by traders daily.
This is a 6-month contract with a strong possibility of extension.
Location: This role is currently 100% remote, but candidates must be based in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) to attend occasional in-office events and meetings at their downtown Toronto location.
💻 Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical leadership and innovative design ideas for complex development and integration tasks.
- Work closely with traders and stakeholders, demonstrating the ability to rapidly adjust, redesign, and adapt functionality based on frequent, fast-paced feedback.
- Design and build highly available, scalable software components utilizing modern software principles.
- Produce high-quality documentation artifacts, including solution diagrams, trade flow analyses, and current vs. target state definitions.
- Maintain, enhance, and provide crucial production support for existing trading systems.
- Contribute to the organization's overall IT capability advancement in areas like real-time messaging and application high-availability.
✅ Required Technical Experience
- 7+ years of demonstrated experience developing complex, high-performance software solutions for large, geographically dispersed financial organizations.
- Expertise in systems requiring real-time streaming, high-volume data updates, and integration with both internal and external services (e.g., TCP, HTTP, MQ).
- Mandatory: Extensive experience with the FIX protocol.
- Proficiency in modern software languages, specifically Java, Python, and C++.
- Deep knowledge of Oracle databases.
- Experience with DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, Git, Linux server, Shell scripting, and Windows server environments.
- Must be a True Agile practitioner—able to start with a concept and rapidly iterate to the final product.
➕ Highly Valued Assets
- Work experience within Capital Markets, specifically supporting Fixed Income, Credit Trading, or Rates desks.
- Prior experience working with large Capital Markets trading platforms (e.g., Bloomberg TOMS, FIS BondOne, Calypso, WSS).
- Experience in AWS software development.

The target hiring compensation range for this role is between 70/hr to 85/hr depending on overall experience. Compensation is based on several factors including, but not limited to education, relevant work experience, relevant certifications, and location.
