Job Overview
We’re looking for an experienced HR professional who’s passionate about building great employee experiences while keeping operations running smoothly behind the scenes. This role plays a critical part in payroll, onboarding, employee relations, and compliance, partnering closely with leaders to support teams across multiple locations. You’ll help shape scalable HR processes, bring clarity to complex situations, and contribute to a culture that values transparency, consistency, and people-first decision making as the company continues to grow.

- Prepare and process weekly, semi-monthly, and monthly payroll cycles accurately and on time.
- Maintain payroll records and ensure compliance with California and Texas wage and hour laws.
- Assist with payroll audits, reporting, and cross-functional payroll projects.
- Coordinate new hire documents, I-9 verification, and system setup.
- Deliver a smooth, engaging onboarding experience, including new hire orientation.
- Maintain employee profiles across HRIS, payroll, scheduling, and benefits platforms.
- Process terminations and final pay in compliance with local and state requirements.
- Serve as a first point of contact for employee relations questions; escalate complex issues when appropriate.
- Maintain personnel files in accordance with state and federal regulations
- Support benefits administration, including open enrollment and employee communication.
- Assist with policy development, employee handbook updates, and HR compliance tasks.
- Produce HR reporting, analytics, and insights for leadership.
- Partner with managers to ensure consistent application of HR policies and practices.
- Contribute to special projects and help evolve HR infrastructure as the company scales.
- 5–7+ years of progressive HR experience, ideally in a start-up, multi-site, or fast-paced environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Experience supporting both strategic and operational HR functions.
- Strong background in employee relations, including coaching managers, investigations, and resolving complex HR issues.
- Solid experience with California employment law (wage and hour, leaves, final pay, compliance, investigations).
- HRIS and payroll system expertise; ability to work across multiple platforms.
- Exceptional communication, judgment, and problem-solving skills.
- Comfortable working in a high-growth, evolving environment with shifting priorities.
