About The Role

We are seeking a talented UI Designer to join our team on a contract basis, based remotely out of Chicago, IL. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in supporting and enhancing our design system, contributing to both the creative development and maintenance of user interfaces. This position involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to add new components, iterate on existing designs, and ensure consistency across digital products. The UI Designer will balance creative design efforts for new features with ongoing maintenance tasks, utilizing their expertise to improve user experience and product value. A strong focus on interaction design, proficiency in Figma, and experience working within complex or regulated environments are essential for success in this role.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Interaction Design, Human Factors Engineering, or a related field
  • Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in UI designing
  • Proficiency in Figma software for front-end and back-end design processes
  • Strong understanding of interaction design and UI/UX principles
  • Experience designing digital consumer-facing or enterprise products
  • Experience working within complex systems or regulated environments such as healthcare and banking
  • Familiarity with FDA Human Factors Regulatory Processes and Requirements
  • Knowledge of FDA Guidance on Human Factors, IEC standards, and HE75

Responsibilities

  • Support and enhance the design system by adding new components and assisting the team in maintaining consistency
  • Create initial screens, concepts, and prototypes for new features, ensuring alignment with product goals and user needs
  • Iterate on existing designs to improve usability, aesthetics, and functionality
  • Build and maintain a comprehensive library of design components within Figma
  • Collaborate with product managers, developers, and stakeholders to deliver seamless user experiences
  • Balance time effectively between creative design tasks and maintenance activities
  • Participate in design reviews, provide constructive feedback, and incorporate user testing insights
  • Stay updated on industry trends, best practices, and regulatory standards relevant to UI/UX design
