Job Description


About the Opportunity:

The organization develops core banking and lending software solutions for credit unions and their members, focusing on enhancing operations in accounting, lending, member services, and online banking. The Lead QA Engineer will drive test automation and quality strategy, manage the QA team, and ensure high software reliability for a cloud-based fintech platform. This is a full-time, exempt, remote position open to candidates residing in any U.S. state, except California.


Responsibilities:

• Architect, implement, and maintain automated testing frameworks for web, mobile, and API layers.

• Lead adoption and optimization of CI/CD-enabled automated testing pipelines.

• Partner with DevOps and Engineering to improve test reliability, speed, and coverage.

• Evaluate new automation tools, technologies, and strategies.

• Develop and document test plans and QA best practices for distributed teams.

• Manage and mentor an on-shore/off-shore QA team for technical growth and career development.

• Lead test planning, prioritization, and defect management for releases.

• Ensure QA milestones are met and promote team accountability.

• Collaborate with Engineering, Product, and Customer Success to align QA outcomes with business goals.

• Provide regular feedback and support for team engagement.

• Define test metrics and process improvement goals.

• Drive root cause analysis for defects and promote systemic quality improvements.

• Act as a subject matter expert for automation, quality standards, and testing best practices.

• Influence product architecture for testability and automation-first design.

• Identify risks, bottlenecks, and opportunities to improve quality outcomes.


Requirements:

• 6+ years of professional QA/QE experience, including leadership of automation initiatives and QA teams.

• Proficiency with at least one major automation framework (Selenium, Cypress, Playwright, etc.).

• Advanced experience designing and maintaining automated tests for web, API, or mobile applications.

• Experience integrating automation into CI/CD workflows and cloud environments.

• Ability to set QA strategy, foster team growth, and drive quality process improvements.

• Strong understanding of software architecture, testing patterns, and performance validation.

• Excellent communication skills for cross-functional collaboration.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent experience.

• Preferred: Experience as a QA lead or manager in Agile/Scrum fintech environments, hands-on experience with test management tools, experience with compliance frameworks (SOC 2, etc.), and prior experience in financial technology or regulated environments.


Compensation:

• The starting salary for this position is $160,000 - $180,000 based on experience.
