Job Description

JOB DESCRIPTION: TECHNICAL ANALYST

About Us

At Embelo, we’re dedicated to helping founders of consulting businesses start and scale efficiently. Backed by our UK-based investors and clients, we deliver exceptional client services to a growing group of UK businesses, combining technical expertise, South African spirit, and the latest in AI-powered services.

One of those is Inference Group, a fast-growing data and AI consultancy on a mission to help businesses unlock their true potential and drive sustainable growth through smarter use of data, automation, and AI-enabled solutions.

Role Overview

We’re entering our next phase of growth and building a practical, delivery-focused automation and data capability in Cape Town. We’re looking for a Technical Analyst who thrives at the intersection of data, low-code automation, and business process improvement.

In this role, you’ll work hands-on to digitise offline and manual processes, integrate and transform data from multiple sources, and design automated workflows using modern low-code and no-code platforms. You’ll play a key role in helping clients move from fragmented, manual ways of working to scalable, efficient, data-driven operations.

This is a hands-on, high-impact role suited to someone who enjoys solving real-world business problems, working closely with stakeholders, and turning messy processes and data into elegant, automated solutions.

Location: This is a hybrid role based in Cape Town (3–4 days per week in the office, 8:00–17:00).

If you’re applying from another location, please note that relocation to Cape Town would be required and arranged personally.

Key Responsibilities Include

  • Analyse existing business processes and identify opportunities for digitisation and automation.
  • Design and implement automated workflows using low-code and no-code platforms such as Microsoft Power Automate, Power Apps, and similar tools.
  • Digitise offline and paper-based documents and integrate them into structured, searchable, and automated systems.
  • Build, maintain, and optimise data pipelines and ETL processes to support reporting, automation, and downstream AI/ML use cases.
  • Write and optimise SQL queries to extract, transform, and analyse data from various data sources.
  • Develop simple internal applications and tools using low-code platforms to improve operational efficiency.
  • Collaborate closely with consultants, engineers, and clients to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
  • Document processes, workflows, and solutions clearly to support ongoing delivery and future scaling.
  • Support multiple client engagements, balancing quality, delivery timelines, and stakeholder expectations.

What You Bring

We’re looking for a technically capable, delivery-minded analyst with a strong foundation in data and automation, and a track record of improving how businesses operate through technology. You’ll bring experience in some or all of the following:

  • 5–6 years’ experience in a Technical Analyst, Data Analyst, Automation Analyst, or similar role.
  • Strong SQL skills and experience working with relational databases.
  • Hands-on experience with ETL processes, data transformation, and data integration.
  • Practical experience with workflow automation tools, ideally including:
  • Microsoft Power Automate
  • Power Apps or similar low-code app platforms
  • Other low-code / no-code automation tools
  • Experience digitising manual or offline processes and embedding them into automated workflows.
  • Ability to work across both technical and non-technical stakeholders, translating business needs into workable solutions.
  • A structured, analytical mindset with strong attention to detail.
  • Confident, credible, and comfortable communicating internally and externally.
  • A relevant university degree, such as Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, Engineering, or a related field.

Nice to Have

  • Experience working in a consulting or client-facing environment.
  • Exposure to AI, machine learning, or data science projects (even if not hands-on model development).
  • Experience working with Microsoft’s broader data or cloud ecosystem.
  • Availability to start immediately or on short notice.
