Troy is seeking a Power BI Solutions Analyst to be part of our growing project services team. This exciting opportunity provides for full lifecycle project services.

Your Responsibilities:

The Power BI Solutions Analyst will be responsible for influencing the outcome of system architecture and development of initial systems which will perform ETL of the data, as well as storage of data throughout the lifespan of any project. You will work in close collaboration with the Director of Digital Innovation, as well as subject matter experts, to design and build the systems and key components.

This role is for visionaries who desire to have direct influence over the development of a robust automation and reporting system, but also are eager to be hands-on with building tools and systems from the ground up. The Power BI Solutions Analyst may have full or partial responsibility for the following tasks:

  • Collaborate directly with the Director of Digital Innovation to design, build, and enhance scalable Power BI solutions, including data models, reports, and dashboards tailored for pipeline construction project management.
  • Lead the development of reusable Power BI templates, dataflows, and robust data transformation logic using Power Query (M), with a focus on maintainability and continuous improvement.
  • Partner with project teams and subject matter experts to gather requirements, translate business needs into data solutions, and provide hands-on support and training as needed.
  • Work with Excel at an advanced level to produce ad hoc analytics, dynamic dashboards, and process-friendly templates using modern formulas, spill ranges, and conditional formatting.
  • Support the team in integrating, transforming, and validating data from various sources (Excel, SQL, mobile field tools) with a focus on delivering accurate, actionable outputs.
  • Contribute to team documentation, best practices, and process improvements, and actively share knowledge with junior analysts.
  • Occasionally assist with presenting insights to clients, vendors, and internal stakeholders, including building clear and compelling presentations.
  • Thrive in a highly collaborative, communication-driven environment where feedback, adaptability, and ownership are valued.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, Business Analytics, Engineering, or related).
  • Strong hands-on expertise with Power BI, including advanced DAX, Power Query (M), Dataflows, and report publishing/maintenance.
  • Demonstrated experience designing and building reusable Power BI templates and solutions for business users.
  • Advanced Excel skills, including experience with spill formulas, conditional formatting, structured tables, and complex data transformation (no VBA required).
  • Familiarity with SQL (reading/writing queries, connecting to data sources; deep ETL not required).
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills; able to gather requirements, present data, and facilitate discussions with non-technical users.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently in a remote environment and contribute effectively in a distributed team.
  • Legally authorized to work in the U.S. (Houston area preferred; fully remote within the U.S.)

Additional Preferred Skills:

  • Experience in oil & gas, construction, or infrastructure projects (familiarity with typical data, terminology, and project cycles).
  • Client-facing experience, especially presenting technical solutions or data insights.
  • Exposure to cloud platforms (Azure, Power Platform) and collaborative tools (SharePoint, Teams).
  • Experience mentoring or supporting junior team members.
  • Resource planning, project controls, or process mapping experience.

What we Offer:

  • Primarily remote work position with only occasional in-person meetings
  • Comprehensive benefits plan
  • Employer matched 401k
  • Competitive compensation – commensurate with expertise, skills and capabilities
