Job Description

Breach Secure Now is hiring a Junior Cloud Engineer to join our growing cloud team as our second dedicated cloud hire. You’ll work closely with the cloud engineer, development teams, and release management to support, maintain, and evolve our AWS-based infrastructure. This role is ideal for someone early in their cloud career who wants hands-on experience with modern AWS services, Infrastructure-as-Code, and DevOps tooling.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support and maintain AWS infrastructure across services such as Lambda, API Gateway, S3, RDS, CloudFront, CodePipeline, EC2 and Elastic Beanstalk, IAM, and Route53.
  • Work with Terraform and scripting tools to deploy, configure, and update cloud resources.
  • Assist in automating operational tasks and improving CI/CD pipelines.
  • Collaborate daily with development and release teams to troubleshoot issues and enable smooth deployments.
  • Help review architecture, cost optimization, and security considerations.
  • Write basic scripts in Bash or Python to support infrastructure automation.
  • Use AI-assisted tools and workflows to accelerate troubleshooting, solution design, and documentation.
  • Participate in on-call or incident response rotations as needed.

Required Experience & Skills

  • 1–2 years of experience working with AWS or hands-on cloud projects (professional or personal).
  • Familiarity with major AWS services, especially serverless (Lambda, API Gateway), storage (S3), compute (Elastic Beanstalk), networking (Route53), and identity (IAM).
  • Basic Linux administration knowledge.
  • Experience with or willingness to learn Terraform.
  • Ability to write and understand small Bash or Python scripts.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a mindset that embraces using AI as a tool to accelerate learning and delivery.
  • Strong communication skills and comfort working cross-functionally with engineering teams.
  • AWS certifications are a plus, but practical experience is more important.

Nice to Have

  • Exposure to CI/CD tools such as CodePipeline, GitHub Actions, or similar.
  • Experience with monitoring/observability tools.
  • Understanding of cloud security best practices.

What Success Looks Like in the First 6–12 Months

  • Develops a strong understanding of our AWS environment and the relationships between key infrastructure services.
  • Routine cloud operations, deployments, and break/fix tasks are handled reliably with minimal oversight.
  • Legacy configurations, unused resources, and operational debt are identified and steadily reduced through cleanup and optimization work.
  • Contribute to cost savings and right-sizing discussions.
  • Documentation gaps shrink as runbooks, diagrams, and workflow guides are created or improved.
  • Release, dev, and cloud workflows see fewer blockers thanks to better automation, scripting, and proactive issue discovery.
  • The engineer becomes a dependable backup for the existing Cloud Engineer, expanding team capacity and reducing single-points-of-failure.

Why You’ll Love Working With Us

  • Fully remote, flexible environment.
  • Opportunity to grow into a mid-level engineer quickly by working closely with senior cloud leadership.
  • Modern AWS ecosystem with real ownership and impact.
  • Supportive culture focused on learning, experimentation, and practical skill-building.
