Job Description
What You Will Do
Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) is seeking an experienced Instructional Technologist 4 to join the Technical Training Center - Training Systems and Standards (TTC-TSS) group. In this advanced-level position, you will lead efforts to configure, integrate, and sustain the Laboratory's enterprise Learning Management System (LMS) and related tools. This role focuses on system functionality, performance, and interoperability; ensuring LANL's training technologies meet operational, regulatory, and security requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide expert level technical and administrative support for enterprise-wide learning systems and commercial training content providers, including SAP NS2 SuccessFactors Learning Module and LinkedIn Learning.
- Support the configuration and maintenance of system integrations with other Laboratory applications.
- Use web application development and JavaScript troubleshooting skills to identify and resolve technical issues.
- Coordinate with stakeholders, IT, and vendors to manage configurations, enhancements, and issue resolution.
- Support institutional policies and rules of use related to system governance and compliance.
- Monitor data integrity, reporting, and analytics for system accuracy and training compliance.
- Recommend and implement improvements to enhance automation, interoperability, and system efficiency.
Minimum Job Requirements:
Technical Expertise
- Expert level understanding of enterprise learning management systems, integrations, and configuration management.
- Experience developing and troubleshooting web-based applications using JavaScript and browser developer tools.
- Knowledge of SCORM, web services, APIs, and single sign-on (SSO) solutions.
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office and other common software tools.
- Familiarity with DOE training standards, compliance, and institutional systems operations.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to work across technical and non-technical teams, including HR, IT, Legal, and Policy offices.
- Demonstrated ability to manage priorities and solve complex problems independently.
- Works independently on complex, high-impact issues requiring advanced technical judgment.
- Creates cross-organizational collaborations and influences key stakeholders.
- Operates with minimal supervision toward long-range objectives.
- Strong data analysis and problem-solving skills.
- Proven success implementing improvements to large-scale systems.
- Ability to anticipate technical challenges and develop sustainable solutions.
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience with SAP NS2 SuccessFactors Learning Module or another FedRAMP-authorized Learning Management System.
- Experience with process improvement and automation in enterprise training environments.
- Knowledge of DOE, NNSA, or other federal training compliance frameworks.
Work Location: The work location for this position is telework and is located in Los Alamos, NM. Telework is defined as working from offsite but within 2hours ground commute of this location. Reporting onsite may be periodically necessary. All work locations are at the discretion of management and can change at any time with appropriate notice.
Position commitment: Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. If an employee has not served the time required, they may only apply for Laboratory jobs with the documented approval of their Division Leader. The position commitment for this position is 1 year.

Directive 206.2: Employment with Triad requires a favorable decision by NNSA indicating employee is suitable under NNSA Supplemental Directive 206.2. No Clearance: Position does not require a security clearance. Selected candidates will be subject to drug testing and other pre-employment background checks.
New-Employment Drug Test: The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing. Although New Mexico and other states have legalized the use of marijuana, use and possession of marijuana remain illegal under federal law. A positive drug test for marijuana will result in termination of employment, even if the use was pre-offer.
Regular position: Term status Laboratory employees applying for regular-status positions are converted to regular status.
Internal Applicants: Regular appointment employees who have served the required period of continuous service in their current position are eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. If an employee has not served the required period of continuous service, they may only apply for Laboratory jobs with the documented approval of their Division Leader. Incentive Compensation Program: Position is eligible to participate in the Triad Incentive Compensation Program. You must be in an eligible position for a minimum of 3 months, before July 1st and remain in an eligible position as of the end of the fiscal year, September 30th. The annual distribution is prorated based on the number of months in the eligible position.
